Lorraine Bracco Embraced Her Gorgeous Gray Hair & Its Saved Her 'Hours' In The Salon
Lorraine Bracco looks great with gray hair, especially now that she no longer spends hours at the salon camouflaging the color. In 2020, the actor decided to let the transition happen naturally, though she wasn't quite sure what to expect. "I had no idea what it was going to look like," she told Yahoo Life. She described the process starting with a "half dark, half gray, half whatever it was" tone. But in the end, it was all worth it, and the best part is she has regained a lot of time that would have otherwise been spent at the hairdresser every three weeks. "I feel like I have a lot of hours [back]," she said.
After embracing the hair trends that helped her transition to gray, Bracco's hair is now almost completely silver with a subtly darker undertone, and the look couldn't be more flattering on the 70-something actor. In one of her latest films, "Nonna" alongside a cast of fellow "Italian grandmas" played by Susan Sarandon, Brenda Vaccaro, and Talia Shire, Bracco fully embodied the role. She now tells her talent agent to 'remind these people I have gray hair. I am no longer a brunette.' So far, she says casting directors have been very 'accepting' of her silver locks.
"The Sopranos" actor may have stopped covering her grays, but she doesn't appear to have retired her colorist entirely. When spotted out and about in New York City during the 2025 holiday season (below), Bracco showed off striking, cool-toned platinum tresses with an apparent blue-lavender hue — an increasingly popular gray hair trend done by professional salons and the perfect hairstyles for showing off your gray hair.
Lorraine Bracco is embracing gray hair and good health in her 70s
Stepping into her gray hair era, Lorraine Bracco checks all the boxes on how to rock gray hair with confidence and look good doing it. The actor considers herself fortunate to have made the transition so beautifully. "People stop me in the street and ask me who colors it, and I say 'The guy upstairs'," she told Yahoo Life.
Additionally, the "Goodfellas" actor told the outlet she made a promise to herself when she turned 50: have more fun. Meeting that goal, however, meant putting her health first. "I feel good. I wake up every morning. I'm grateful to wake up. I'm happy. I'm healthy. I think that's a really big part of it," she said. "Being healthy is really my No. 1 goal to attain every day." The Oscar nominee says she also tries to stay active and maintain a healthy diet. "I try to walk every day. I try to get those steps in. It's not always easy. I try to sleep. I try to eat [healthy]. I take care of myself," she continued.
For Bracco, she's long past Hollywood's obsession with looking younger. "I'm inspired by women who are down to earth and accept the way they look at whatever age they are," she told Woman's World. "I don't mind growing old. I don't feel bad about it. I don't need to impress anybody by looking 20 years younger than I am."
