Paris Jackson Will Never Live Down Her Most Inappropriate Red Carpet Outfits

Paris Jackson, daughter of Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe, has followed in her father's footsteps by forging a singing career. She also happens to be a model and activist, proving that passion can lead to many career paths. While she has her father's daring penchant for serving bold looks, Paris has arrived at events numerous times wearing outfits that didn't quite suit the occasion. 

These inappropriate looks failed for a number of different reasons. Paris frequently gravitates toward boho-chic choices. She's also a fan of grunge styling. And why not? It's such a great aesthetic for self-expression. There are ways to style '90s grunge for the summer, and a specific shoe choice will add a bit of grunge to your little black dress. Paris knows all about this, as she's often good at walking that fine line. However, she's been a guest at more than one event where she's sported outfits that felt wrong for the function. At times, the look has been too grunge, or veered excessively into boho chic when the event called for something more sophisticated. Or, the outfit was the wrong style for the season. For any number of reasons, Paris has compiled a long list of inappropriate red carpet looks.

There's no denying that Paris Jackson's style transformation has been head turning, but that kind of growth doesn't come without a few hiccups. Jackson attended the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2017 wearing a sheer, tulle dress by Dior with nude boy shorts and a bralette underneath. Of course, the VMA awards celebrate edgy red carpet looks, but Jackson's outfit was a little too boho for the occasion. It would have been better at Coachella.

Paris Jackson attended a party honoring "MJ The Musical" in New York City in May 2022. For the event honoring her late father, Michael Jackson, Paris wore a flesh-toned, sheer strapless gown with lace cutouts and a long, lace train. The outfit didn't land and felt inappropriate for the event. The dress couldn't make up its mind whether or not it was casual or glamorous, and for such an illustrious event, Paris needed to commit to a more direct statement. The sizable, nude underwear underneath also distracted from the gown.

Paris Jackson arrived at the Revolve Festival on April 15, 2023 wearing a mix of grunge and preppy plaid that got destroyed along the way. She paired this with round sunglasses, a long shoulder bag, and bulky boots. The combination was overwhelming. Jackson's detailed, heavy platform boots that looked uncomfortably hot for the California climate, also overwhelmed the very busy dress. The look was not one of Jackson's best outfits, and a lighter pair of sandals would have lifted the dress.

Paris Jackson has rocked numerous iconic hair looks, and her full locks undeniably slayed at UMG's Grammy Awards After Party in February 2024. Jackson wore an open, leopard print coat over a black mini skirt and a sheer, corset-style top that exposed her torso tattoos. Jackson's outfit felt inappropriate at this event because of the dizzying number of details. The leopard print coat was loud enough, but, adjacent to her sheer corset and body art, the overall look was hectic.

Paris Jackson attended Elton John's Academy Awards Viewing Party in March 2024 in California. For the event, she wore a sheer, black dress with hip-high slits, black underwear and black, strappy heels. The dress managed to be both dull and inappropriate at once. While the sheer-dress trend has been popular for several seasons now, Jackson's look lacked balance and instead brought both high slits and a see-through element to one gown. The look failed to capture that sparkle and gravitas that are associated with the Academy Awards.

Paris Jackson won't quit the sheer-dress trend. While it's certainly stylish, she often wears these more risqué choices at events that don't call for such a spicy flair. When she attended the Paramount Golden Globe Nominee Celebration in January 2025, in Beverly Hills, California, Jackson wore a long, gold version of the sheer dress. Other stars at the event didn't take such big risks; Mikey Madison wore a black gown with gold detailing while Elle Fanning wore a leopard print dress and scarf. Jackson's sheer dress stood out uncomfortably.

Paris Jackson wore a black, sheer, off-the-shoulder dress when she attended the Stella McCartney show during Paris Fashion Week on March 5, 2025. The look falls under yet another sheer dress worn by Jackson, and this consistent style feels a little old on her. Secondly, Paris the city, where the event was held, tends to be very chilly in March, and the sheer dress felt out of season for such a cold time of the year.

The no-pants trend has been a fashion statement popularized by many celebrities; Lady Gaga went sans trousers as far back as 2007, when she was pushing fashion limits in new and daring ways. Beyoncé also started rocking the look in the 2010s, and it took off from there. So when Paris Jackson showed up at the Off-White fashion show in September 2025 in New York City in a no-pants look, it came off as inappropriate. The era for that particular look had passed, and the spicy choice fell flat. 

Paris Jackson went for yet another sheer look at the Republic Collective Artist Reception in January 2026. This time, her brown top was sheer while her skirt had more ample fabric. The outfit was uncomfortable and inappropriate because of a fabric blunder. The texture of the shirt photographed strangely around Jackson's chest, creating a blurred effect on her top. No doubt it was a mistake on Jackson's part, but the optical illusion distracted from the rest of her outfit.
