Outdated Trends Pam Bondi Has Worn Since Becoming Attorney General
Since becoming attorney general, Pam Bondi has made a few things clear: For starters, Bondi has an undeniable passion for unflattering pantsuits, particularly in bright colors. On top of that, Bondi is responsible for wearing a cringy hair fail that we'll never forget, which would suggest she either doesn't own a mirror or check it before she leaves the house. If she did, then she could have avoided all her outfits that completely missed the mark and noticed that a particular White House look that she recently wore was ripped from the '70s. But since this hasn't happened, then the mirror theory seems somewhat legit.
While what an attorney general wears may not have mattered much in the past, the stakes are different now. Considering Trump keeps calling the U.S. the "hottest" country in the world, one would think that the attorney general of said country would dress for the role. Instead, Bondi wears one outdated trend after another, oblivious to not only the decade she's living in, but the position she holds.
If you've ever worn an outdated trend and regretted it later, you're definitely not alone; we've all been there. But the thing with old fads is that, unless it's part of a Halloween costume, you realize your mistake and never go down that road more than once. But that's not the case with Bondi. Every day this woman wakes up and does the same thing all over again. That's either commitment to whatever it is she's trying to pull off or, as suggested, it's time to pitch in and get Pammy a mirror.
Exposed contrasting stitching is a blast from the past
There was a time when exposed contrasting stitching was very big, especially on sports coats and similar pieces in the 1970s. However, that's a trend that over time, faded out in favor of more minimalist looks. But Pam Bondi seemed set on giving the look a comeback moment in August 2025 in a navy blazer that featured bright white stitching on the lapels. If you weren't around in the 1970s, then a quick hop on eBay will show you a boatload of vintage jackets that look just like this.
Design and colors that should be left in 1979
If Pam Bondi's style was to exclusively wear 1970s-inspired outfits, then she couldn't be blamed for her long list of outdated looks. However, because she is the U.S. Attorney General, she doesn't exactly have the freedom to embrace a fashion quirk like that, meaning when she wears something that's decades old, it stands out and looks odd. Here Bondi wears a butterfly collared shirt with an olive green blazer. Not only is the cut of these two items dated, but the colors are reminiscent of days gone by — the 1970s were rife with olive green, burnt orange, and mustard yellow. In other words, if you were born too early or too late and missed this era, be happy you did.
Palazzo pants were a 1960s trend that should stay there
Before bell bottoms became all the rage in the mid-1970s, the wide pants trend before that was palazzo pants which were open and breezy all the way down. Like a lot of looks from that time in history, they weren't a particularly flattering cut and unless you were extremely tall, so pulling them off was a feat. Despite these facts about palazzo pants, here we have Pam Bondi trying to make the 60-year-old trend work. Even though wide-leg pants made a comeback post-2020, Bondi's attempt in a matching pantsuit looks more like a blast from the past than a modern take on a classic silhouette. Plus, the color choice of powder blue dates it even more.
Burnt orange suit with bell bottoms while meeting FIFA President
While Kate Middleton knows how to turn a pantsuit into a sleek fashion statement, the same can't be said for Pam Bondi. For reasons that we may never know, Bondi opted for a look that screamed 1970s in both cut and color. Not only did she wear it at an event with Kash Patel earlier this year, but she recycled it and wore it again in late August when she met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino about security for the 2026 World Cup. Although her shirt choice this time around isn't as retro as what she wore with it in the past, the whole look is just archaic.
Pulling out a Fashion Bug classic for an announcement
In April 2025, Pam Bondi took to the podium to announce the DEA "Take Back Day" in which they asked people to turn in both prescription and non-prescription drugs. For the announcement, Bondi chose to keep things casual (maybe?) with a top that looked like it's a misguided attempt at chambray, a trend that many left behind in the mid 2010s. But the wanna-be denim fabric wasn't the only problem. It was the strange collar, fringed edges, and plastic buttons that served up major early 2000s vibes. If you think you may have seen this shirt at a Fashion Bug in 2002, you're probably right.
Dressed as someone's prom date from 1975
When Pam Bondi got back behind the podium on August 7, 2025 to announce the $50 million bounty on Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro, she decided to really dress for the occasion. But while she may have been trying to present herself as a serious and authoritative figure in this chocolate-brown jacket with gold buttons and a matching shirt, the end result was something more suitable for a costume party. Between the broad shoulders and large embellishments, Bondi looked like she was cosplaying one of the neighborhood boys during the school dance scene in the film "The Virgin Suicides" which, coincidentally, takes place in 1975.
Thinking she's part of the Clinton administration
It seems that the majority of Pam Bondi's outfits consist of items you'd find at an estate sale for someone who was her age in the 1970s. But sometimes she gives other decades a chance to shine. Here she's dressed like a PTA mom from 1983 in a periwinkle blazer, white blouse, and cream-colored pants. As is the case with many of Bondi's ensembles, the colors really contribute to the outfits looking outdated, which is also the situation here. The last time a periwinkle blazer made sense, fashionably speaking, Bill Clinton was president. In other words, whatever Bondi was trying to make happen with this get-up was the opposite of trendy business-casual attire..
Decked out like a missing member of the Bee Gees
Of all the outdated things that Pam Bondi has worn, this powder blue suit with a printed blouse underneath really takes the cake for being behind on the times. What makes the choice even more confusing is that Bondi is in the Oval Office with Trump, Marco Rubio, and El Salvador president Nayib Bukele, among others. This means it wasn't the ideal time to cosplay being the missing member of the disco music group the Bee Gees. Yet here she is, looking mighty proud of herself in a suit that looks like she lost a bet and this was her punishment.
Trying to make polyester and prayer great again
Sometimes a vintage suit can be a nice throwback, but more often than not, it's a sign of being out of touch with the times. Bondi's mauve suit, with a wide lapel and large pockets, appears to be made of polyester or, at the very least, a polyester blend (all staples of 1970s suiting). The black collar from her shirt sticking out over the top only added to the outdated vibe. Standing alongside Alina Habba, whose oversized blazer was more 2025, Bondi's look couldn't look more like she flew in for the meeting in her time machine.
Causing Coco Chanel to roll over in her grave
Another political event, another outdated suit on Pam Bondi? Why, of course. On inauguration day, Bondi showed up wearing a Chanel jacket that, despite being designer, is woefully outdated. Maybe in 10 or 15 years, this suit will be called vintage, but in 2025, it's just something that needs to be kept in the closet. Considering it was Trump's big, beautiful day with such big, beautiful crowds, you'd think that Bondi would have chosen an en vogue Chanel ensemble, but as we've learned, Bondi doesn't do en vogue, in style, or in this decade for that matter.
