Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager are bringing their bestie spirit to Halloween. On October 30, 2026, as "Today" celebrated NBC's 100th anniversary with a Halloween party, the two stepped out in "Friends" inspired costumes. Adorably, Bush Hager dressed as Phoebe Buffay while Guthrie dressed as Rachel Green. To share their festive looks, Bush Hager posted photos on her Instagram stories with the caption, "The Rachel to my Phoebe," along with red heart emojis. In the corner, cropped in a heart shape, was an image of the two original characters from the '90s sitcom, played by Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow.

Bush Hager wore a bohemian-style blouse to channel Phoebe and carried a guitar, while Guthrie was peak '90s as Rachel in a sleeveless denim shirt, an apron, and black tights. They totally leaned into their characters, and the final result was awesome. In part, this is because "Friends" lends itself so well to aesthetic homage.

These "Friends" looks are so eternally stylish that they're applicable to everyday wear, not just Halloween. There are so many ways to steal your favorite '90s aesthetic from "Friends." That includes  several iconic Rachel Green outfits that would be totally on-trend today. It's proof that Guthrie's adorable Halloween outfit would look pretty good any other day of the year, too, (minus the apron). She and Bush Hager nailed Halloween 2026, but that's no surprise given their other friend costumes.

Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager have a long history of epic Halloween costume collaborations

You're never too old to dress up with your bestie for Halloween. Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager have been doing just that for years. While Halloween 2026 was inspired by "Friends," the two journalists have frequently had a blast dressing up. On October 29, 2021, the two dressed up as Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders for a "Today" Halloween event at Rockefeller Plaza. The fun costumes even inspired a fitness journey for Bush Hager. "I have to tell you, when your boss says you're gonna be a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader — and I grew up in Dallas — guess what? You try to get fit," she told Entertainment Tonight.

They were at it again in October 2025. Guthrie and Bush Hager did a Halloween collab ahead of the release of "The Devil Wears Prada 2" in 2026. Bush Hager dressed as the iconic Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, while Guthrie played her fictional persona, Miranda Priestly, originally played by Meryl Streep in the movies. It was a brilliant combination of costumes, especially since Halloween is a great time to step up outrageous styles. There are several iconic, fashionable female characters to inspire a Halloween costume, and Guthrie and Bush Hager totally owned it with Wintour and Priestly. The two friends are clearly amazing at Halloween and each year gets more creative than the next.
