Of course, these books aren't limited to the zodiac signs we've paired them with, as Winfrey's picks are eclectic enough to appeal to a wide range of readers. But our pairings are a great place to start when searching for your next read. And once you've devoured the perfect Oprah's Book Club choice for you, make sure there's still room on your bookshelf or e-reader. We've also rounded up the best Reese's Book Club pick for you based on your zodiac sign and the best classic novel for you based on your zodiac sign, so there's no excuse for having an empty TBR list.

Aries: All the Way to the River by Elizabeth Gilbert

Courage and passion are two personality traits Aries people are notorious for, and Elizabeth Gilbert's memoir "All the Way to the River" is packed with both. She delves into the deeply personal story of her relationship with her late best friend turned partner, Rayya Elias, detailing how their platonic friendship developed into a passionate romance. This fire sign is also sure to resonate with Gilbert's bravery as she also gets very candid about her and Rayya's experience with addiction, her heartbreak following Rayya's death, and how she turned her life around after such a dark period.

"With 'Eat Pray Love,' Elizabeth Gilbert started a movement. This new memoir is just as powerful—raw, unflinching, and deeply healing," Oprah Winfrey said when she announced the non-fiction book as her 118th pick in 2025. "She bares her soul, sharing her truth so openly, she offers readers the courage to face their own," she added, which is sure to resonate with courageous Aries readers.

Taurus: Dream State by Eric Puchner

Taurus people famously love romance, and they're well-known for being amongst the most devoted and loyal of the zodiac signs. Eric Puchner's "Dream State" taps into those admirable traits while also giving Taurans plenty to think about. Happy couple Cece and Charlie are planning their wedding, and Charlie asks his longtime best friend Garrett to officiate the ceremony. As the wedding approaches, Cece spends more time with Garrett, and it becomes increasingly clear the two have an inexplicable connection. Cece's loyalty to Charlie becomes tested, as she's torn between feelings she can't deny and promises she made to the man she loves. The historical fiction spans multiple decades to examine how the trio's choices, particularly Cece's, affect both them and their children. So it's sure to leave Taurans feeling conflicted, much like Cece.

"It's an exquisite examination of the most important relationships we have in our lives. Love and marriage, of course, and friendships," Oprah Winfrey said in a 2025 Oprah's Book Club video announcing her 111th recommendation. "I promise you, it's the kind of book you won't want to put down," she added. If this story whets your appetite for romance, we've also compiled the best romance book for you based on your zodiac sign.

Gemini: Bridge of Sighs by Richard Russo

It's no secret that Geminis love to chat and are highly curious and adaptable people. That's why "Bridge of Sighs" by Richard Russo (Oprah's Book Club's 117th recommendation from 2017) is sure to resonate. Protagonist Louis Charles Lynch (aka Lucy) hasn't had much adventure in his life. He's been married to Sarah for decades and has spent even longer living in upstate New York. But the couple decides it's finally time to shake things up, so they book a trip to Italy to catch up with an old friend. Determined to find out why their old acquaintance has chosen such a solitary life thousands of miles away, Lucy soon finds that his curiosity opens up his world in ways he never imagined. There are revelations aplenty, and their conversations also uncover the truth about this mysterious friend's past connection to Sarah.

"[Russo] is a master at capturing the ordinary moments that reveal some of the deepest truths, especially in small town novels," Oprah Winfrey said of the book. The former talk show host also shared, "You all know I love a story that sweeps you up and this one is not going to disappoint." Winfrey loved this character-driven book so much she even invited Russo to discuss it on her "Oprah's Book Club: Presented by Starbucks" podcast.

Cancer: John of John by Douglas Stuart

"John of John" by Douglas Stuart is sure to capture the attention of Cancers, as it taps into this zodiac sign's deeply emotional side and love of family (Cancer is one of the zodiac signs to turn to for the most affection, after all). The highly emotive novel centers on John-Calum "Cal" Macleod's life. He heads back to his hometown after failing to find major success in his life, though he has discovered his sexuality. He's reunited with his family, including his dad and grandmother, and soon realizes they haven't shed their outdated thoughts on how he should live his life. But now that he's found himself, Cal wrestles with the pressure to avoid reverting to the person he was before he left, despite his family's expectations.

"Douglas Stuart brilliantly weaves a complex and compelling tale that ultimately showcases the transformational power of love in a hostile and judgmental world. I felt transported," Oprah Winfrey said when confirming her 123rd pick in 2026. Speaking on her "Oprah's Book Club" podcast, Winfrey compared the book to Rachel Reid's "Heated Rivalry." This is the deeper end of the ocean of 'Heated Rivalry,'" she teased. And we've got a handful of other books to read if you like "Heated Rivalry," too.

Leo: Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts

Though many of Oprah's Book Club recommendations are more serious, deeply thought-provoking picks, "Where the Heart Is" by Billie Letts is ideal for Leos because it's one of Winfrey's more positive, uplifting picks. Leos are known for being positive and generous, and Novalee Nation's touching tale reflects those traits in spades. Novalee plans to leave town with her boyfriend but instead finds herself pregnant and alone. She has to rely on the kindness of strangers to help her through the major life change, and she soon finds herself surrounded by an eccentric but deeply generous group of people willing to support her through her darkest hour.

Oprah Winfrey touched on the kindness the book highlights while confirming it as her 22nd rec all the way back in 1998. "Guaranteed to warm your heart," she said. And that's sure to appeal to this fire sign's zest for life and love of a good time.

Virgo: Becoming by Michelle Obama

Virgos are famed for their loyalty, practicality, and hardworking nature; three traits we deeply associate with former First Lady Michelle Obama (even though she's a Capricorn). "Becoming," Michelle's highly popular memoir and one of the best books written by a first lady, takes readers on a journey through her fascinating life. Virgos will get a front-row seat to every aspect of her inspirational life, from her childhood in Chicago to meeting former President Barack Obama to becoming a mom and first lady, and beyond. Michelle also touches on the loyalty she's shown her husband over the years, even during hard times, as well as the work she put in behind the scenes at the White House and in family life.

"It is Michelle Obama's personal story, of course, but I believe it's going to spark within you the desire to think about your own becoming," Oprah Winfrey gushed on "CBS Mornings." She also shared while announcing the memoir as her 80th pick in 2018, "I loved it so much I've already read it twice. It's a tour de force I laughed and I cried it is exquisitely written it is so vulnerable so vivid."

Libra: Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson

As Libras are known for being smart and loving mental and visual stimulation, they're sure to be intrigued by more complex books that nurture their intellectual side. "Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents" by Isabel Wilkerson is sure to do that while also tapping into this air sign's deep dislike of injustice and desire for harmony. The thought-provoking book, Oprah's Book Club's 86th recommendation, uses Wilkerson's extensive research and data to draw parallels between the U.S. and historical caste systems in other nations, such as India and Nazi-occupied Germany.

Oprah Winfrey didn't mince words when confirming her pick in 2020. "This is the most important book, the most essential book, the most necessary for all humanity book that I have ever chosen," she said on "CBS Mornings." Winfrey even highlighted "Caste" again as part of Oprah's Book Club's 30th anniversary celebrations in 2026, when she looked back at some of her top picks over the years. "This book is so important for our country. I just feel like, if you're an American, you need to read this book," she said in a Facebook video.

Scorpio: Some Bright Nowhere by Ann Packer

In "Some Bright Nowhere" by Ann Packer, we meet Claire and her husband Eliot. The two have been married for decades and have children together, so Eliot is left shell-shocked when his beloved wife asks him to step back from her life. Instead, she wants her girlfriends to move into their home and care for her after she receives a terminal cancer diagnosis. Scorpios are known for being true and loyal friends, for being brave, and for their desire to find passion and a deep bond with another person. Not only will this story urge Scorpios to contemplate what friendship really means and where its boundaries with romance lie, but it's also sure to provoke thoughts about loyalty when Claire bravely vocalizes what she wants.

Oprah Winfrey echoed that sentiment when she said of her 256th pick, selected in 2025, via AP News, "This beautifully written story is going to get you thinking about some things that really matter." She added, "The story leaves you questioning the obligations of marriage and the difference between male and female friendships, and one of the most significant of questions: How do you want to spend your last days?"

Sagittarius: The Sweetness of Water by Nathan Harris

It's no shock to anyone who is a Sagittarius or knows one that they crave freedom and adventure. This feisty fire sign is sure to resonate with "The Sweetness of Water" by Nathan Harris, in which the author debates what freedom actually means. The historical fiction novel is set around the time of the Civil War. We meet brothers Prentiss and Landry, who have been freed from slavery but find themselves working on a farm owned by a white family in hopes of earning enough money to reunite with their mom. At the same time, the book details a forbidden love story between two male soldiers during an era when same-sex relationships were not only frowned upon but punishable by law. Though the characters are freed from slavery and war, are they truly free? The story may also appeal to Sagittarius' philosophical side, encouraging this sign to think more deeply about freedom and existence.

"One of my great joys is finding a new author whose work I can share and support," Winfrey said in a statement (via Independent) while announcing Harris' debut novel as her 91st pick in 2021. "I was captivated by the work of Nathan Harris," she added. Speaking about the thought-provoking novel on "CBS Mornings," she said, "You can feel the essence of what it means to have come from there to here [...] you get to literally look at how far we have come."

Capricorn: Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald

Capricorns are famously big on family and the traditions that come with it. "Fall on Your Knees" by Ann-Marie MacDonald is likely to deeply resonate with this earth sign, as it tells the story of a close family with very complicated dynamics. The novel follows the Pipers across five generations, spanning World War I and the years that follow, as a deep secret festers from one generation to the next and repeatedly threatens to tear the family apart. For Capricorns, it'll stir thoughts about the very concept of family and the importance of a close bond during the ups and downs of life.

"Many times during the reading of 'Fall on Your Knees,' I would say, 'How can that be happening now?' And then I'd say, 'It's a book. It's a book. It's a book.' I don't look for a happy ending. I look for whatever is realistic. Whatever is meaningful, whatever is going to take me to the next level with these characters," Oprah Winfrey said of the book during an Oprah's Book Club interview with MacDonald. Winfrey also said in a statement (via Hoopla), "What a wild ride – I couldn't turn the pages fast enough." The gripping family tale was Oprah's Book Club's 47th pick, chosen in 2002.

Aquarius: Night by Elie Wiesel

Aquarians are known for their desire to fight for what's right and for being progressive humanitarians, so they're more than likely to feel a deep connection with Elie Wiesel's harrowing true story, "Night." The dark non-fiction book, Oprah's Book Club's 59th rec announced in 2006, takes readers back to World War II, when Wiesel was just a teenager. Wiesel recounts being taken to the Auschwitz concentration camp, and then the Buchenwald concentration camp, as he discusses the devastating loss of his family and the unimaginable trauma he and other Jewish people endured at the hands of the Nazis.

"Like Dr. King, I have a dream of my own, too, that the powerful message of this little book would be engraved on every human heart and will never be forgotten again," Oprah Winfrey said of the book in a statement (via "Today"). She added, "[It] should be required reading for all humanity." In 2000, Winfrey interviewed Wiesel for "O, The Oprah Magazine," and said, "After I first read his memoir 'Night' [...] I was not the same—you can't be the same after hearing how Elie, at age 15, survived the horror of the Holocaust death camps." Winfrey is an Aquarius, so it's fitting that she chose a book that may resonate with her fellow Aquarians' desire to help others and better understand their struggles.

Pisces: A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose by Eckhart Tolle

Pisces have a highly spiritual side and deep emotional capacity, which is sure to resonate with Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose."  The spiritual non-fiction book is a big favorite of Oprah Winfrey's, so much so that she chose it for Oprah's Book Club twice (in 2008 and 2025). The self-help release is Winfrey's 61st and 110th recommendation and is designed to help readers take control of their lives by putting ego to one side. As Pisces (like these Pisces celebrities who perfectly embody their zodiac sign) are widely considered prone to escapism, the book's emphasis on living in the present may help those who feel a little lost stay grounded and regain a sense of control.

Winfrey has repeatedly praised the book. "'A New Earth' had such a profound impact on me, I thought others might also be struck by the idea of putting the ego in check and becoming more aware of being rather than doing," she wrote in a glowing piece for Oprah Daily. "I know for sure there is no real meaning to life without a spiritual component. Spirit, to me, is the essence of who we are," Winfrey added, which is sure to pique a Pisces' interest.

How we chose the right Oprah's Book Club pick for you based on your zodiac sign

Each book we chose had to be one of the 125 (at the time of writing) titles Oprah Winfrey had chosen for Oprah's Book Club. Each choice's theme or story also had to correlate with one or more personality traits associated with the zodiac sign it was chosen for, as defined by ZodiacSign.com. We also considered what Winfrey had to say about each book and how her comments might resonate with each zodiac sign.
