The Leading Ladies Of Netflix's Wednesday Are Gorgeous In Real Life

Add Women on Google:

Netflix's "Wednesday" gave fans a new vantage point into the much-beloved Addams family. The horror series specifically centered around Wednesday Addams as a student at Nevermore Academy, with other recognizable figures bringing the same spooky charm that made the Addams family such a cultural staple. And all of these iconic actors look very different in real life compared to their spookier portrayals in the Netflix series.

Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday, while Catherine Zeta-Jones plays her mother, Morticia Addams. Gwendoline Christie of "Game of Thrones" plays Principal Larissa Weems, Joy Sunday plays Bianca Barclay, while Emma Myers plays Enid Sinclair. On screen, these women all follow, in varying degrees, the aesthetic of gothic dark academia. The style is full of high-contrast shadow with a lot of black and gray in costumes and even in makeup tones on the show. With such dramatic tones and goth-preppy style, the leading ladies of "Wednesday" have a striking look on the show but have notably different styles off the set. While they all look great in an aura of macabre whimsy, they look even more gorgeous in real life.

Joy Sunday has a much more chic style IRL

Joy Sunday plays sassy fencer and fellow student at Nevermore Academy, Bianca Barclay. Because Bianca is a siren and she possesses supernatural abilities, her look on "Wednesday" is fittingly theatrical. Her silver eyes signify a deeper power within her, while her preppy uniform plays on the dark academia aesthetic on the the show.

In real life, Sunday sees a lot of herself in her "Wednesday" character. "We certainly aren't completely unlike each other," Sunday told Essence in August 2025, later adding, "Bianca and I love the IT girl. Not saying that we are the IT girl, but we both love the IT girl." While both Sunday and Bianca share a similarly fearless spirit, Sunday's style is quite different. Her red carpet style is as glamorous as it gets, and she never fails to stun in a striking fit. To be fair, Bianca is a student and doesn't get to wear such high-voltage pieces, but Sunday appears to make up for it with sultry, trendy, and playful outfits that dazzle.

Jenna Ortega still plays up the gothic element on red carpets

Jenna Ortega, who plays the titular character Wednesday Addams in Netflix's "Wednesday," might be most like her character amongst all of the leading ladies in the series. Ortega has frequently looked like a goth queen on the red carpet, opting for darker styles and daring makeup choices. Not all of these looks have worked; Ortega has stepped out more than once in outfits that missed the mark, but on the whole, the goth glam that works for Wednesday has worked for Ortega, too.

Ortega has admitted that she and her character, Wednesday, have a lot in common. "I feel like [Wednesday and I] like similar things already," Ortega told Vogue Philippines in December 2022. "I've always loved button-ups and white collars. It's something that I've always gravitated towards. I love dark colors." However, there are certain styling choices of Wednesday that Ortega doesn't align with. For example, the actor nixes the braided pigtails in real life, favoring long, flowing hair on red carpets. That aside, Ortega was really a perfect casting for Wednesday since, aesthetically, they have so much in common.

Emma Myers is more subdued in her personal style than her Wednesday character

Emma Myers plays Enid Sinclair, a werewolf student at Nevermore Academy on Netflix's "Wednesday." As Wednesday Addams' roommate, Enid is visually a complete contrast to her sullen, moody roommate. Enid's light blond hair, full of color and curls, speaks to the polarity between the two characters, next to Wednesday's tight dark braids. Enid is all about bright colors and sociability, making her an unlikely match for Wednesday, and their blossoming friendship becomes that much more touching in light of this.

In real life, Myers is quite different from her character and knows it. "I don't really think I'm like Enid at all, to be honest," Myers told People in September 2025. "I don't dress like her. I'm not very bubbly. We're not the same at all." True to her word, a scroll through Myers' Instagram shows her simpler style; she wears her hair in a light brown shade and steers clear of excessive color in her makeup choices. Her off-duty clothing choices lean into neutrals and comfortable outfits. It's a testament to Myers' acting abilities that she's able to so convincingly play a bubbly, extroverted character like Enid. Though Myers did say that Enid has shaped her. "I've grown into myself a bit more recently," Myers told People. "I'm a bit more confident, I'll say that." It seems like a mutually beneficial relationship between the actor and character.

Catherine Zeta-Jones' real life styling is much softer than Morticia Addams' look

Catherine Zeta-Jones brought so much glamour to her portrayal of Wednesday's mother, Morticia Addams, in Netflix's "Wednesday". Morticia is famous for her vampy black dresses, sleek black hair, pale skin, and outrageously red lips. As a character, Morticia is really stunning. But the high contrast of Morticia is quite different from what Zeta-Jones leans into in real life.

Morticia's color contrast is quite severe, whereas in real life, Zeta-Jones has a softer style with a color palette that isn't as stark. She leans into a golden glow with more tanned skin; her hair is a chocolate brown, and Zeta-Jones favors a makeup palette in latte tones, opting for warmer tones. Though in terms of glamour, Morticia and Zeta-Jones are well matched. In real life, Zeta-Jones continues to be a style icon, never missing an opportunity to dazzle. And, on occasion, she'll pay homage to the iconic character by stepping out in black fits, but always softened by her warmer hair color and editorialized makeup. Adorably, the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree because Zeta-Jones' daughter, Carys Zeta Douglas, has undergone a stunning transformation that has her looking more and more like her glamorous mother every day.

Gwendoline Christie prefers a more natural glamour off-screen

Gwendoline Christie, who became a global icon playing Brienne of Tarth in "Game of Thrones," played Principal Weems in Netflix's "Wednesday," taking the helm of Nevermore Academy after being a student there herself. Principal Weems' style is theatrically decadent; her aesthetic is academic, with tweed suits and pencil skirts along with a bold, red lip. Christie spoke highly of "Wednesday's" costume designer, Colleen Atwood, and how much she enjoyed working with her. "You have the opportunity of working with the legendary Colleen Atwood so you have someone who is, I don't use the term lightly, a genius costume designer and is able to look at you [and] see what suits you best," Christie said, per Vogue. "I felt like my body was truly celebrated and my creative ideas were also completely respected. I had the most wonderful time on set."

While Christie obviously connected strongly with her character and the costumes, her real-life style is quite different. Christie doesn't gravitate towards the severe, academic polish that Principal Weems embodied. Instead, Christie opts for softer elegance in a more romantic color palette that dazzles on red carpets.
