5 Styles That Are Officially Outdated For Fall 2026

Fall 2026 is bringing with it a whole new wardrobe of trending styles, and those new trends mean that formerly popular looks are now firmly outdated. The changing of the seasons means a change in fashion, and the dominating shift in autumn is leaning away from the casual glory of previous seasons. This doesn't mean that comfort is out; there are several comfortable fall 2026 fashion trends that still dominate. It just means that we're making slight tweaks to silhouettes in favor of more flattering and fashion-forward looks. 

The style mantra for fall 2026 is intentional dressing. Instead of leaning into minimalist fits and neutral color palettes, this fall is bold and fresh. It's also slated to be a very colorful season. There are also key colors you'll be seeing in everyone's wardrobe this fall; warm earth tones, bright pinks, and powder blues are trending thanks to the big statements they make. The jeans, often used as a punch line in fashion, are being replaced by wider leg denim or a more classic slim jean. Drawstring trousers are the trendier alter-ego to leggings, and with a slightly wider leg, these pants can do more. Style them with sneakers, or pair them with ballet flats for a casual day. And you can wear them with a striped polo shirt or a cropped sweater, both popular pieces this autumn. 

Puffer coats dominated the colder seasons in years past. These bi, insulated jackets were so popular because they were so easy and kept everybody warm. So on the absolute most freezing days of winter, when everyone's in survival mode, wear whatever you want to stay warm, but for fall 2026, the puffer coat is not going to cut it. 

Folks are getting tired of the wide, unimaginative silhouette. So instead of the bulky coat, elevated trench coats and long woolen coats are taking over. More imaginative and unconventional textures are winning in the world of outerwear.
