The Full Gorgeous Transformation Of General Hospital's Kristen Vaganos

Soap opera, social media comedy sketch, or Lifetime movie fan? Then there's a good chance you'll recognize Kristen Vaganos. The "General Hospital" and "My Sweet Holiday" star has had a very varied career, so much so you may even have spotted her in a Subway commercial or as a werewolf in a horror movie. But while Vaganos may not quite be a household name (yet), that's exactly how she likes it. "Success, to me, means comfort. Living a comfortable life and having the respect of my peers. I don't need fame and I don't need glory," she told Digital Journal. "I do want the respect of my peers, and some ease in life. Also, I want work that inspires me because I am really passionate about the work," she added.

This talented actor, comedian, producer, and writer is selective about the roles she takes on too, as she's determined to portray women with purpose in front of the camera and amplify female voices from behind it. When asked during a Substack interview what inspires her, she replied, "Stories by and about compelling women. I gravitate towards stories about brave, complicated, messy, and strong women." And that's been a running theme throughout her transformation.

Kristen Vaganos was born into a Greek American family in Philadelphia in 1996. The star told Digital Journal all four of her grandparents emigrated to the U.S. from Greece, which meant she'd take multiple trips to the European country to see family and friends over the years. "I really am proud of my Greek heritage," she said. And she's just as gratified by her immediate family, who share a close bond. "My parents have the happiest marriage I've ever seen and my sister [Lexi Vaganos] and I are so proud and grateful for the way they raised us," she told Voyage LA of her idyllic childhood.

Vaganos knew early on that acting was her calling, and she was partly inspired to get into the field after watching the iconic sitcom "Friends." "I couldn't believe how fleshed out the fictional characters were. They warmed my heart and I wanted to do that for people," she told Dread Central. Vaganos told ABC 11 she started acting in theater productions as a youngster [00:56] and recalled to Voyage LA that she liked the idea of being the center of attention — just not as herself. "I felt so at home in a place where I could be playful and imaginative," she said. That early desire to play different characters led the star to minor acting roles, including appearances in local productions and commercials. In high school, she honed her craft by starring in musicals [1:24].

Kristen Vaganos' smarts were evident when she studied at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. That meant swapping her hometown of Philadelphia for the bright lights of the Big Apple, where she worked toward her Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama. "[I] absolutely adored living in the city – endless amounts of people to inhabit on my daily walks to classes, my bartending job, and auditions!" she recalled to Voyage LA. "I wanted to feel like an adult living, working, auditioning, and taking classes in the city. And that's exactly what I got!" she added.

Vaganos told Ain't It Cool she also took stage combat classes during her studies, which prepared her for some of her later stunts. The studious actor graduated after just three years, though most college students attend college for four. After graduating, Vaganos decided to pursue her acting career on the opposite side of the country, so she quickly swapped NYC for Los Angeles.

Around 2017, Kristen Vaganos found herself a college graduate trying to break through into the acting world in the harsh audition rooms of Los Angeles. And it wasn't easy. "I had to make friends, find my footing, and eventually I realized I was competing with young women who had been acting professionally since they were 13 or 6 or fricken 2!" she told Voyage LA. Vaganos recalled struggling to land roles initially. She attributed her difficulties to not being a regular on the Hollywood party scene, where many up-and-coming actors make connections. "I just simply can't stay up that late anymore and have never done coke so that's that," she quipped.

But Vaganos eventually broke through and got more comfortable in her new surroundings, partly because she began attending acting classes and joined an improv community associated with the University of California, Berkeley. Around the same time, she began appearing in a slew of web series like "Fake News Writer" and "Twelfth Grade (Or Whatever)." But it wasn't too long before she got an in with a major multimedia business that would see her appear in multiple TV movies.

Kristen Vaganos was officially welcomed into the Lifetime movie fold in 2019. She appeared in her first TV movie for the network, the dark thriller "Mommy Would Never Hurt You," which also marked Vaganos' first time playing a movie lead. Vaganos went on to act in several other Lifetime movies over the next few years, including 2020's holiday offering "My Sweet Holiday," 2021's "Obsessed with the Babysitter" and "Murder & Matrimony," as well as 2023's "Secret Society of Lies."

Speaking to MyTime Movie Network in 2024, Vaganos described playing Elaine Davidson (an injured dancer who embarks on a romance with a dangerous psychologist) in "Obsessed with the Babysitter" as her favorite role. "It was very challenging. I was like, rehearsing in my mirror every night after 12 hour days," she recalled, sharing that she had to learn how to dance for the movie.

Kristen Vaganos made a somewhat surprising move in 2020 when she took her career in an unexpected new direction. She appeared in the independent horror movie "I Am Lisa" as a woman who's bitten by a werewolf. The star told "Two Geeks Calling" she originally turned down the dark gig, but agreed to it after sharing notes with the production team that were taken on board. "What I loved about the movie was that it was, like, an underdog female character who kind of keeps to herself and would really rather stay out of the limelight," she said. "I liked that it was just this girl that you could root for who, I think, we can all relate to," she added. The actor told Ain't It Cool she used her college stage combat training to perform her own stunts and even choreographed one of her action scenes.

Also in 2020, the world slowed down amid COVID-19. But Vaganos didn't rest on her laurels. She told Voyage LA she spent her time studying how to become a producer, a skill she quickly put to good use. Vaganos earned her first producer credit on the movie "Okay Google," which starred singer-actor Rebecca Black. That soon snowballed into bigger projects, including the 2022 movie "Bobcat Moretti," which she worked on as a co-producer and starred the likes of Vivica A. Fox and Taryn Manning.

But don't think her newfound passion for producing meant she'd turned her back on acting. She made it very clear she still loved being in front of the camera. "I believe that my true purpose, my greatest skill and biggest passion, is acting," she clarified to soapcentral.com.

In 2023, Kristen Vaganos got a major acting break when she joined the cast of the long-running ABC soap opera "General Hospital." She took over the role of Molly Lansing-Davis, who had been played by multiple actors before her. Vaganos admitted to ABC 11 that she wasn't a major soap opera fan before signing on the dotted line, so she didn't fully know what to expect when she headed to the fictional city of Port Charles [3:18]. She also revealed she wasn't told until after she got the gig that she'd be playing a character who already existed.

"It was so tumultuous. It seemed like there was a new recast every week, so I wanted to come in and be a solution—and I feel that's what I've done," the actor told Woman's World in 2025. "It was a lot in the beginning, and it was crazy to jump in," she added. In 2024, Vaganos became a contract cast member, which guaranteed her more lines and screen time.

Around the same time, the star was also making a name for herself via social media comedy clips. She teamed up with the viral account Content Machine to create short videos that have racked up thousands of likes and views. The actor later began collaborating with comedian Nikki Howard on playful online sketches.

Though Kristen Vaganos had become a popular star of "General Hospital" by 2024, that didn't stop her from dabbling in other entertainment media. She got back in touch with her theater roots in a Los Angeles production of the stage show "Human Error." "I haven't done a full theatrical production since I was living in NYC and I've missed theatre so much," she told Bold Journey. The show received eight nominations at the 2024 BroadwayWorld Los Angeles Awards, but sadly, didn't win one of the prestigious gongs.

The Philadelphia native also revealed that having a steady soap role allowed her more time to focus on writing. That meant dreaming big about bringing her own production to the big screen. "For as much as I've produced, and as many times as I've brought someone else's vision to life, I've never actually made a film of my own so I'm hoping that's in the cards for next year!" she said.

As busy as Kristen Vaganos was in 2024, she still found time for love when she met fellow actor Nick Cafero. He gave insight into the early days of their romance in a sweet Instagram post that celebrated their second anniversary. "A coffee date turned into a French Toast date turned into the best thing that's ever happened to me," he wrote alongside several loved-up photos of himself and his girlfriend. And Vaganos didn't exactly hide her love for her man, who's appeared in the likes of "The Office," "9-1-1," and "Grey's Anatomy," either.

In a sweet 2025 birthday post for Cafero, Vaganos wrote on Instagram, "He is the kindest, most generous soul. He is so talented, hard working, and makes the best quinoa salad." She also revealed her man was learning Italian, which appeared to be a nod to her family and heritage. "I love you Nicky, thank you for sharing your life with me," she added. Vaganos shared an equally sweet Instagram message for her love the following year, in which she described their romance as the greatest thing to happen to her. "Every bar has been raised. I didn't know it could be this good," she gushed. And Vaganos is a funny lady in Hollywood who found love with a man who let her shine.

In 2025, Kristen Vaganos starred in, produced, and assistant-directed the comedy drama "Ramona at Midlife." But her producer credit was actually somewhat of an accident. She admitted during a Substack interview that there was an unnamed lead producer lined up, but they pulled out just one month before filming. "I was completely unqualified for both positions, but I said yes and figured it out later," Vaganos admitted. The movie, which also starred the likes of Rosemarie DeWitt and Josh Radnor, told the story of a woman thriving later in life and piqued the actor's interest. "I came into it like, 'Yes, please, let this story exist to tell us that we're not done by a certain age. We're not expired, no longer marketable, and no longer interesting once we've had kids, gotten married, or have a wrinkle!'" Vaganos told Woman's World, giving an empowering celebrity quote that inspired us.

That desire to make it clear women have value at any age appeared to have bled into Vaganos' thoughts on beauty and aging. She proved she was confronting aging with confidence, which makes sense considering she's aging like fine wine, like her fellow "General Hospital" star Rebecca Herbst. "I would love to live in a world where women aren't racing to change our faces and compete with each other and alter ourselves to evade our 'expiration date,'" she said in her Substack interview. The star also revealed she was happy to be associated with the movie because of the way it demonstrated female friendships and women pursuing success at work.

Though Kristen Vaganos had taken on multiple dramatic storylines as Molly Lansing-Davis on "General Hospital," she was entrusted with an important health story in 2026. In an episode directed by her now-former "General Hospital" co-star Kate Mansi, Molly experienced a difficult time following her endometriosis diagnosis, a painful condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. The episode was based on Mansi's own experiences, making it a deeply personal topic for her and Vaganos.

"I've seen [Mansi] endure it, so I have been able to get firsthand knowledge. I just felt like I was in such safe hands and it meant so much to me to know that I was doing right by Kate personally," Vaganos told TV Insider of Mansi, who's had her own gorgeous transformation and advocated for adequate endometriosis care. Vaganos also opened up about the bond she shared with her close friend and former co-worker, sharing the important storyline that brought them closer together. When Mansi announced she was leaving "General Hospital" in 2026, Vaganos shared a series of photos of them on Instagram and wrote, "Always a sister."

By 2026, despite Kristen Vaganos' soap opera stardom, she made it clear she had no plans to expand her online reach by becoming a TikTok star. Though she has her own TikTok account, she decided not to bombard fans' timelines with constant posts. "I'm not that active on social media. I have Instagram but I don't even use TikTok really," she told Digital Journal. "So, these are things that definitely overwhelm me. The whole emergence of TikTok stars really goes over my head," she added.

But while it sounds unlikely that becoming a TikTok influencer is the next step in Vaganos' impressive career, we should expect her to spend more time acting and producing. The same year the star made a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance in a Subway commercial, she revealed she was excited to have more movie projects in the works, including a sports comedy that she co-wrote. 

Vahanos had clearly learned a lot about life the year she celebrated her milestone 30th birthday, as she admitted she'd become less Type A over her life and career. "I'm trying to just trust that it's all going to work out and I'm trying loosen my grip on everything," she said. The star also gave a title to the important chapter of her transformation, describing it as "Letting Loose and Trusting." And it's clearly working so far.
