Downton Abbey Star Elizabeth McGovern Has Had A Gorgeous Gray Hair Transformation

Elizabeth McGovern, famous for playing Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham, on "Downton Abbey," has gone gray and is rocking the look with confidence. Back in her days of playing an American heiress in England, McGovern was a brunette, but in the years since "Downton Abbey" wrapped, the actor has decided to embrace gray. 

While fans can't help but notice McGovern's new hair tone, the actor has actually tried to bypass the subject in interviews, pointing out the double-standard put on women. "I can't tell you how many times I'm interviewed, and the first question is about plastic surgery, or 'How do you feel about making a statement with your gray hair?' It's like, 'Would you ask a guy any of these questions? No!' No, there are other things. Life is full of other things," McGovern told Tonic. Of course, it's important to honor McGovern's very correct sentiment. However, as more and more women are embracing gray, it's worth pausing to celebrate that. In the Hollywood world where a premium is put on youth, McGovern's free acceptance of her changing appearance is a positive one, and certainly worth celebrating.
