Though this phenomenon can be hereditary, it can also be caused by an eye injury or medical condition. A study published in the Journal of Optometry estimated that less than 1% of the population has complete heterochromia, though the rarity of partial heterochromia is unknown. Ranging from an uncommon iris shade to a unique combo of two colors, these mesmerizing celebrity gazes are something to be admired.

When it comes to celebs with unique irises, Kate Bosworth stands out for her heterochromia. The "Blue Crush" star has one bright blue eye while the other is heavily inked with brown.
