Cindy Crawford Slipped Into Her 60s Seamlessly - But She Does Have One Complaint About Aging

Cindy Crawford has shared the ups and downs of aging. The model has a lot of good things to say about turning 60, with one small caveat: hair dye. She spoke about this with People in May 2026. "People talk about so many different things for anti-aging, but hair color is probably the biggest for me," Crawford explained. "This color is a pain to keep it up. But when I look in the mirror, I see myself still. And, I am all for things that just help me look more like me."

Crawford tapped into a reality that many women experience with aging. While grey hair is beautiful and there are tips for rocking grey hair with confidence, other women aren't ready to lose the hair pigment of their younger years. Women continue to navigate their personal decisions around aging. Many are choosing to embrace wrinkles as a testament to a life well lived. There are countless celebrities who are confronting aging with confidence as proof of this fact. But for many, giving up hair dye has proven to be a harder choice to make.

It makes sense, though. Botox, fillers, and face lifts all require expensive and, at times, painful procedures, whereas hair dye is a relatively affordable and easy way to look younger. Considering the fact that a person can dye their hair at home, should they wish, it's certainly one of the cheapest and quickest ways to stay youthful. As Crawford said, it helps her look like herself.

Maintaining hair health when dying it is crucial

For many women including Cindy Crawford, hair dyeing is an important part of personal grooming with age. And why not? As Crawford said to People, "I think that's my biggest change in how I approach beauty: I just want to feel like the best version of me. I don't want to look tired. I don't want to look like I'm trying too hard." Since hair dyeing is a worthwhile pursuit for many women, it's important to maintain hair health. There are ways to maintain healthy hair in your 50s and beyond, no matter what your coloring proclivities may be. But this is especially important if a person dyes their hair.

According to Biolage, it's important to use color-safe hair products to avoid stripping the color while washing hair. Secondly, don't over-wash your hair and use cool water because hot water can open hair cuticles and cause a loss of pigment. Hair masks for deep moisture is another essential component because dry, brittle hair is that much more likely to break off. Finally — and this is true for all hair, no matter what age — use heat tools sparingly. Of course, it's nice to be able to style a do with a hair dryer and maybe even curl or straighten hair to achieve a certain look. But curling rods and straightening irons can damage the keratin protein in hair. Use a heat protector product and save those hot tools for special occasions.
