The Bachelorette's Trista And Ryan Sutter Thank This One Philosophy For Their Enduring Marriage
In Hollywood, high-profile relationships rarely last or they at least come under attack from split allegations. From affair rumors looming large over Victoria Beckham's marriage to power couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds facing alleged divorce rumors. But there are always outliers in every situation, and Trista and Ryan Sutter appear to be one of them. "The Bachelorette" couple, who celebrated their 22-year wedding anniversary in this Instagram Reel posted on December 2025, revealed the core philosophy that they credit for their enduring marriage in an exclusive sit-down with People. "We have the philosophy that there's nothing that's going to break us up. We certainly have moments of disagreement, but there's never any thought of 'I'm leaving,'" Ryan Sutter told the publication.
"We always know that we're going to come back together and figure it out," Ryan added, going further into detail. "We know the grass isn't greener on the other side. Your lawn is greenest where you water it." The Sutters certainly seem to have gone against all odds from the moment they tied the knot in 2003, going on to have two children together. And Trista echoed her husband's words, sharing how content she has been with her life and that she's looking forward to what the future brings. Her Instagram account is replete with heartwarming family photos and moments, but, the Sutters are human and any relationship goes through ups and downs — including theirs.
Ryan and Trista Sutter almost called it quits
Despite how idyllic and wholesome Ryan and Trista Sutter's relationship looks, the couple has not held back on sharing that they do go through tough times. One particular time could have brought the pair to breaking point, with Ryan coming clean about the incident during an intimate segment on the "Love Stories" podcast, hosted by seasoned reporters Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes. "I don't think there's ever been a time where our love for each other has wavered," the former professional football player established, before continuing, "But at that point ... I was a little more selfish than she wanted to have someone be if she was gonna spend the rest of her life with them." In fact, Ryan implied that Trista actually did break up with him for a time, which pushed him to do a little bit of self-reflection. Thankfully, things worked out between the couple and they decided to forge through and move on with their marriage.
But fans nearly got a scare when Ryan added an Instagram post on May 2024, which had an image of the pair grinning at the camera alongside a lengthy caption. "I really wish I could talk to you. Ask you how you're doing? How was your day. I'd really like to hear your voice — just for a minute," the caption started, which set off alarm bells that the pair had split. But Ryan was quick to clear the air and confirmed that they were still together. Instead, he explained in another Instagram post days later, that an "opportunity presented itself" to Trista and implied that his wife was just away due to that. It isn't clear what exactly drew Trista away from her family, but now things seem to be smooth sailing between the couple.
