Celebrity Outfits That Totally Missed The Mark In 2025
Although 2025 was rife with Trump women whose outfits totally missed the mark, including those in Trump's administration, they weren't the only ones serving up fashion fails. After all, 2025 was the year that Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez tied the knot with their obnoxiously over-the-top wedding in Venice, and the guests' attire left much to be desired — as did the guest list itself. So, needless to say, it's been an interesting year watching celebrities try to pull a look together and fall flat on their face — metaphorically speaking, of course. But, hey, no one ever said trying to be the center of attention was easy.
While there are some celebrities who rarely, if ever, miss the mark with their fashion choices, for example, the late great Diane Keaton, and the queen of taking method dressing to the next level, Zendaya, the same can't be said for everyone else. If Beyoncé, of all people, has a few outfits that totally missed the mark, then frankly, no one is safe from such a fate. But what's important to realize is that missing the mark doesn't mean an outfit is ugly. It means that why it was worn and for what occasion, leaves people scratching their heads — especially if that person has solidified themselves as knowing how to put a look together. So, the next time you realize you've committed a major style error, don't fret. At least you didn't find yourself on a list of celebrities' fashion fails in 2025.
Katy Perry and her hooded gown were confusing
In 2024, Katy Perry made Women's list of worst dressed celebs and for good reason: she really struggled to put together anything even remotely decent all year. While some celebrities look to the past and learn from their mistakes, that's not the case for Perry. In March 2025, Perry attended the 11th Breakthrough Prize Awards wearing a silver sequined ensemble that looked uncomfortable and at odds with the event. But considering Perry has many outfits that have completely missed the mark throughout her career, it's hard to be totally surprised by this attempt. At this point, Katy Perry is just being Katy Perry.
Taylor Swift didn't do Vivienne Westwood any favors
Taylor Swift may be a billionaire with legions of fans worldwide, but with so many worst-dressed red carpet moments that we can't forget, it's clear she could use some help. Nowhere was that more evident than in February 2025, when Swift wore a red sparkly mini dress by Vivienne Westwood to the Grammys, doing both her name and Vivienne Westwood's name a disservice. While both fans and critics were quick to point out that she looked underdressed for the event, La Mode Unknown perfectly summed up what was happening, posting on X, "The way Taylor Swift can make Vivienne Westwood and Schiaparelli look extremely BASIC, like any figure skating or prom dress is definitely her biggest TALENT."
Kim Kardashian created her own Met Gala theme
Celebrities who need constant attention will inevitably have a fashion fail in public view, and you can always count on Kim Kardashian to deliver. For the 2025 Met Gala, Kardashian's interpretation of "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" was a leather crocodile print gown and matching fedora by Chrome Hearts. In addition to there being nothing even remotely superfine about this look, Kardashian, as usual, looked extremely uncomfortable, and her vision was likely obstructed due to the hat. Considering the 2025 Met Gala was a hotbed of celebs who proved style gets better with age, Kardashian might need to mature a bit before taking on another Met Gala.
Heidi Klum looked like she was going to prom, not Cannes
Heidi Klum may be the queen of Halloween costumes, but when she showed up to the "Mission Impossible — The Final Reckoning" red carpet at the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival, something was off. For the event, Klum went with an off-the-shoulder pearlescent sequined gown by Elie Saab, and the whole look felt underwhelming — especially considering the other dresses she rocked while in Cannes that year, one of which broke the festival's rules about trains. As a model and former host of "Project Runway," one would think Klum would have gone with something that looked less like she was on her way to prom in the early 2000s.
Zoe Saldaña's Valentino dress was a little too much of everything
Although the film "Emilia Pérez" had its fair share of controversy, that didn't stop Zoe Saldaña from taking home the Oscar for her role as Rita Mora Castro. While a well-deserved win, Saldaña's burgundy tiered gown that night, created by Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello, left us with a whole boatload of questions. For example, who thought this would be a good look on anyone, especially someone nominated for an Academy Award? While the color was a beautiful choice for Saldaña, the design just didn't make sense. So much so, that as phenomenal a talent as Saldaña is, she made Women's worst-dressed attendees at the 2025 Oscars list.
Here's to hoping Jordan Chiles and her designer learned from this faux pas
Jordan Chiles may have a gold medal from the 2024 Summer Olympics, but her dress at the 2025 American Music Awards suggested that while she's a talented gymnast, dressing for events may not be her strong suit. For the event, Chiles wore a custom white dress by Marine Serre, and it was definitely one of the most perplexing looks to come out of 2025. It's not just about the neckline, which looked extremely uncomfortable and like it may pop at any moment, but the drop-waist mermaid-like hem and, of all embellishments, zippers on each hip were enough to suggest that Serre should be asked to give back the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers that she won in 2017.
Parker Posey — and her Emmy nomination — deserved better
Watching indie darling Parker Posey in "The White Lotus" was one of the best things about 2025. Although Posey has been around since the early 1990s and her style transformation has been turning heads, having never been a mainstream leading lady, the series introduced Posey to a whole new audience and scored her an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. But had she won, she would have been wearing an unflattering purple custom dress by Valentino — not exactly a great choice. Not only was the multi-tiered design and sheer shawl far too busy, but the lilac color washed Posey right out. In fact, everything about her dress aged Posey and read as frumpy — especially for the Emmys.
Kylie Jenner ignored basic wedding etiquette
While there was no shortage of inappropriately dressed attendees at the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez in June 2025, Kylie Jenner really outdid herself by opting for a dress that was far too close to white to be worn to a wedding. As we've discovered with the Jenner and Kardashian clan, money doesn't buy class or taste, but this outfit choice really missed the mark because it fell into more than one category of colors you should avoid wearing to a wedding, being a variation of white and metallic. Its design was also quite questionable, looking more like something Jenner should be wearing to literally anything other than a wedding.
Lauren Sanchez managed to rile up fellow MAGA folk
When looking at the most inappropriate outfits at political events that left us stunned, there are more than a few. But in 2025, at Trump's inauguration, Lauren Sanchez absolutely took the cake when she tried to pull off a topless blazer moment, thus becoming the center of attention. Although Sanchez wasn't entirely topless under her blazer, her white lace bra was very much exposed. You might be hard-pressed to find anyone who thinks an exposed bra is an issue, but considering the event, it was pretty tasteless. On an episode of Sirius XM's "The Megyn Kelly Show," Kelly said Sanchez 'looked like a hooker' among other things. "I can see her underboob ... this is absurd," said Kelly. "She couldn't even keep them covered up for a day."
Megan Stalter's bag didn't make the statement she'd hoped
We love it when celebrities take a stand on the red carpet, but Megan Stalter's statement at the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards felt half-baked. While kudos for taking the extra comfy route with jeans and a T-shirt for a long, somewhat boring, awards ceremony, taping "cease fire!" to her bag just wasn't the best way to make a statement about the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Had she chosen to wear what she wanted to say on her outfit, or come up with a dress design that said everything she wanted to say without words, it would have made a far greater impact. Instead, this felt lazy.
