Kate Middleton's Bold Take On One Of Fall 2025's Hottest Color Trends Misses The Mark

Normally, we look to Kate Middleton for fashion inspiration when figuring out how to wear a color trend. But unfortunately, her latest attempt at fall's hottest color, muted olive has us remembering that certain trends aren't for everyone. On October 9, 2025, the princess stepped out for an event with volunteers at the non-profit, Home-Start Oxford in a pantsuit by Victoria Beckham with a tonal top in the trendy color, mocha-toned heels and a gold necklace. Though one could applaud the princess for experimenting with the earthy hue (and normally, Catherine can turn a pantsuit into a sleek fashion statement), this particular look wasn't a hit with fans.

Folks over on X voiced their dislike of her outfit, with many saying that the color was wrong on the princess, even though it's objectively a popular tone for the season. "It's a horrible colour," one netizen tweeted. "She joined the military?" another jabbed, remarking on the similarity of Catherine's suit to fatigues. "That green trouser suit is horrible ..." a third chimed in. Even supportive fans couldn't get over the excess of green. "Love it, she would normally wear a lighter top underneath so I need a minute to process the look," someone noted. Clearly, the olive suit was a miss. While it doesn't often happen, Catherine has had some fashion mishaps that stunned royal fans. Similarly, Catherine has also been spotted in outdated trends that disappointed fans. And this olive suit seems to be one such moment.

While people didn't like it, Catherine's green suit was a sweet nod to Victoria Beckham

While many people reacted negatively to Catherine, Princess of Wales' olive green pantsuit, others couldn't help but notice the subtle gesture of solidarity she made by wearing the look. The Victoria Beckham documentary was released on Netflix on October 9, 2025, the exact same day that Catherine wore her olive green Victoria Beckham pantsuit. Many took it as a gesture of support between the two British women. After all, Victoria and her husband, David Beckham, attended Catherine and Prince William's wedding in 2011. Prince William and David Beckham also have a long-standing relationship themselves, so it's not surprising that their wives are connected as well.

While some roasted Catherine's green outfit on X, others celebrated her gesture of support. "...I just love the fact she is supporting Victoria Beckham, especially on the day her [Victoria Beckham Netflix] launched!!" someone tweeted. "Lovely [of] the Princess of Wales to send a subtle support to Victoria's Netflix release," another noted. "How lovely of her to support Victoria Beckham on her big day too," another tweeted. So while Catherine's green suit wasn't a home run for fans, people appreciated the gesture of solidarity that it represented. After all, fashion can sometimes speak louder than words.
