Christina Haack's Biggest Makeup Mistakes Are Hard To Ignore
Most of the time, Christina Haack looks primped, primed, and polished. The TV star — who's shared her life on the likes of "Flip or Flop" and "Christina on the Coast" — always brings her best glam self when she's on camera, which includes the long, blond, signature hair extensions Haack looks almost unrecognizable without. But while Haack is absolutely stunning makeup-free, she's admitted she still likes a little something to keep her confidence up. "Ever have those days out and about running errands and catch a glimpse of yourself like... maybe a bit of mascara and lip balm would go a long way here," she once joked in a no-makeup selfie shared to Instagram Stories (via Page Six).
But because this popular house flipper is notoriously one of the most well put together HGTV personalities, that makes it more shocking when she experiences a makeup mishap. And, unfortunately, from too light lipstick, to unblended eyeshadow, to the wrong foundation shade, this star has experienced her fair share of faux pas. Sorry to say, each one has us begging the real estate investor to invest a little more time in her makeup bag.
Christina Haack seemed to experience eyeshadow fallout in her car selfie
In a 2016 car selfie, Christina Haack seemingly experienced eyeshadow fallout under her eyes, which made her undereye appear dark and shadowed. This can happen when a powder shadow is applied to the lid but falls onto the skin below. Some shadows are more prone to fallout than others, but an eyeshadow primer — like Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion or e.l.f. Lock It Down Eyeshadow Primer — can help eyeshadow products stick to the lid better, keeping it where it belongs.
Her face was several shades lighter than her body in a summer foundation mishap
Christina Haack showed us the importance of investing in at least two foundation shades (if you can afford to, of course) in summer 2025. In an Instagram snap showing her enjoying dinner in California with her boyfriend Christopher Larocca, Haack's face was several shades lighter than her tan body, which made it look mask-like. To avoid making the same mistake, the star needs to match her foundation to her tan body, not the shade her face was before soaking up the sun (or applying faux tan).
Christina Haack's bronzer and blush combo was too orange
Back in 2021, Christina Haack posted a selfie to Instagram that showed her cheeks looking unusually orange due to the specific combination of her blush and bronzer. Though orange blush should be in your makeup routine, the "Christina in the Country" star showed why it's important to choose the shade wisely depending on your undertone. Though the photo's filter likely made the product more vibrant than it appeared in real life, a slightly more subtle, cool-tone blush would have looked far more natural.
Her lips lacked definition without lipliner
It should go without saying that no one should feel they have to wear cosmetics they don't want to. That said, Christina Haack would have benefited from a slick of lipliner in her 2020 Instagram car selfie. She wore a light pink lipstick without a slightly darker lip pencil, which meant her kisser lacked definition. NYX's Slim Lip Pencil in Rose would have framed her lips without looking too dark or unnatural, as would Wonderskin Lip Liner Pencil in Blush.
Her thick eyeliner didn't match on both eyes
One of the most flattering ways to apply eyeliner on the upper lashline is to make it thinner closer to the inner corner, then get gradually thicker. This creates a flattering, graduated cat-eye effect that elongates the wearer's peepers. Unfortunately, Haack went against this rule back in back in 2016, as seen in one Instagram shot where her product was laid on too thick on the inner corner of her right eye. This created an effect that appeared blunt and unblended. It also didn't match the softer line on her other eye, which started much thinner.
Christina Haack's liquid eyeliner was too harsh
Though liquid eyeliner can make your peepers pop when applied to the upper lashline, it can look too harsh on the lower eye because it doesn't blend like a pencil or gel product. Moreover, relying too much on heavy black eyeliner is a makeup mistake that can accidentally age you. Christina Haack is an example of this, as one Facebook selfie from 2025 showed her eyes looking heavy due to what appears to be a noticeable amount of liquid eyeliner on the lower lash line. Had Haack opted for a more blendable pencil (like Clinique's Quickliner with a smudge tip or the Rimmel London Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer Eyeliner with Built-In Smudger), she'd have a softer, more flattering aesthetic.
Her eyeshadow appeared harsh and unblended in 2024
In a 2024 selfie, Christina Haack seemingly forgot to blend her eyeshadow. The filtered snap showed a harsh line, particularly above her left eye, which needed extra attention to make it look more natural. A fluffy blending brush — such as e.l.f.'s Fluffy Eye Blender Brush or the Sigma E25 Eyeshadow Blending Brush – was needed to diffuse the product. Haack could have used the brush alone or with a little light powder that matched her skin to soften the look of her lids.
Christina Haack's lipstick was far too light while posing with Brian Claypool
Prominent attorney Brian Claypool shared a selfie with Christina Haack on Instagram in 2021 — but we were more distracted by her lipstick than their very bright smiles. The shade of the HGTV star's pink-y/nude product was way too light for her skin tone and made her lips all but disappear while washing her out. Though the lightness was likely aided by the filter, the star still needed to read our guide to finding the perfect lipstick match for your skin tone.
