Ginger Zee Has Worn Some On-Air Outfits That Totally Missed The Mark

As much as seeing the always sunny meteorologist Ginger Zee each morning on "Good Morning America" gets us ready for the day, unfortunately, sometimes, her outfits go down as well as a rainy downpour. We can't say this star doesn't have any hits in her on-air fashion lookbook, because she clearly takes style seriously and has worn multiple ensembles on the morning show that were totally gorgeous. Take the chic and flattering, red midi dress she wore in November 2024 with classic, nude heels, for example.

We also can't fault her efforts in transforming her wardrobe and embracing the slow fashion movement. In 2021, Zee shared several photos on Instagram of herself wearing the same blue, leather-look pants on the long-running ABC show and confirmed she was drastically cutting back on garment shopping. "Reusing clothing is important to me in my personal life. Investing in fewer but higher quality pieces is one of the easiest ways to reduce your footprint," she captioned the upload. "In my job I almost always rent or borrow, but there is nothing like reusing. I figured why not start doing it at work too!" Zee added. But, as much as we love that mantra — and her style overall — we can't help but notice there are a few outfits she's rocked on-air that totally missed the mark.

Ginger Zee's pants needed more tailoring to make her menswear-inspired look work

Though we appreciated seeing Ginger Zee take the opportunity to switch up the typical morning show staple uniform of corporate structured dresses in 2025, her menswear-inspired look was in desperate need of a tailor's assistance. While her white, pussybow blouse and navy waistcoat looked trendy, her beige pants looked too baggy. Taking them in just a couple of inches would have given the meteorologist a cleaner, and more flattering, silhouette.

Her blue pleather everywhere look didn't give us morning vibes

Ginger Zee made a statement in a blue, pleather short-sleeved jacket with matching pants in 2021. She paired it with an oversized, blue t-shirt and metallic, silver heels, but, as much as we love a winning monochromatic look, the overwhelming amount of blue and shine felt too matchy-matchy and over-the-top for the early morning. We give Zee props for thinking outside the box though, and if she swapped the shirt for a form-fitting, tucked, black tank top and wore the outfit at night, it could have worked.

Ginger Zee's leopard-print dress with a large bow was too busy

Ginger Zee attempted to dress outside the box when she wore a sleeveless, mustard dress with a bright yellow and blue leopard-print pattern in 2021. But, sadly, it didn't work. The garment featured an awkwardly large, black strip of material tied into a bow around her neck, which looked like too much alongside the already busy and loud print — especially for an early morning TV appearance.

Her flat boots ruined her pink dress look

Sure, we loved the pink, button-down midi dress Ginger Zee wore in early 2025, but we didn't love her shoe choice. Zee paired the vibrant number with flat, knee-high gray boots, which were visible through the dress's central slit. While we understand the star wanting a more practical shoe for a January in New York, nude, pointed-toe heels (which came back batter than ever in 2023) would have been a more sophisticated choice for the studio and would have kept the look in line with the chicer ensembles she's worn on-air.

Ginger Zee's bright orange and yellow number felt too juvenile

Ginger Zee loves a splash of color in her on-air outfits, and they usually look great on her. But, while filming in Times Square in 2022, she proved why less is usually more. The weather expert wore an orange shirt over a white top, with orange, satin pants, and nude heels, plus a yellow coat. The vibrant ensemble incorporated too many bright colors, which made it look juvenile and mismatched. Instead, we'd have suggested Zee remove the button-down and only wear the white top to tone down the look.

Her flannel dress wasn't the most flattering

In April 2022, Ginger Zee appeared on the set on "Good Morning America" in a black and blue flannel dress that wasn't her most flattering look. Though the print wasn't the worst we've seen, the execution let it down. The mismatched and inconsistent patches (some outlined in black material) and extra frills at the bottom made it look too busy — and it boggled our eyes just looking at it. However, we do give the TV personality props for attempting to anchor it with a solid, black heel.

Ginger Zee's borrowed black zipper dress didn't work so early in the day

In 2023, Ginger Zee continued her sustainability streak when she borrowed her co-star Lara Spencer's dress on "Good Morning America." The black garment had three silver zippers in the middle, which Zee paired with black heels. Though we can't deny the ensemble was chic, it missed the mark for the morning show. The structured look felt better suited to a fancy dinner, a red carpet, or even a night at a club than a morning telling the nation what to expect from the weather.
