1. Your desk is a disaster
All your coworkers think you're a slob? Tell them it just means you're more innovative and creative.
"Disorderly environments seem to inspire breaking free of tradition, which can produce fresh insights," psychologist Kathleen Vohs says. "Orderly environments, in contrast, encourage convention and playing it safe."
2. You drop the f-bomb every now and again
Or any swear word, for that matter. According to a piece in The Huffington Post, swear words are actually a sign of a more expansive vocabulary. And they're a great way to release stress - so we're thinking it might be time to go out to happy hour with the gals and swear like a sailor... just so you can relieve a little of your workday worries!
3. You're a Night Owl
We've been programmed to think that the best way to live your life is early to bed, early to rise. However, a new study looked at the sleep habits of 20,745 Americans and found that those who were considered brighter went to bed on average at 12:29 a.m., as opposed to those who were duller who went to bed on average at 11:41 p.m.
4. You're a Worrier
If you have high anxiety, it actually means that you're likely more intelligent and worldly. Worriers, as opposed to those who are relaxed and 'blissfully ignorant' have typically predetermined how they might handle a stressful situation, and thus are more prepared for them. They also spend more time thinking about their problems and their lives, and thus tend to have a higher functioning mind.
5. You like to have a drink on a regular basis
Studies have shown "that kids who scored higher on IQ tests grew up to drink larger quantities of alcohol on a more regular basis than their less intelligent peers". So don't be afraid to end your day with some booze!
6. If you're going to drink, you're more likely to drink wine
That same study also found that high IQ is correlated to a wine over beer preference. Sounds like it's time for us all to uncork a bottle to celebrate this exciting news!
7. You've experimented with recreational drugs
A study by National Child Development states that ""more intelligent children in the United Kingdom are more likely to grow up to consume psychoactive drugs than less intelligent children", including drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, alcohol and tobacco. There have been other studies that have come to similar conclusions, as well.
8. You're blonde
A study of over 10,000 Americans found that on average the women who had blonde hair actually had a higher IQ than brunettes and red heads. So next time someone whips out a blonde joke, make sure you set them straight!
