Are you a true Southerner?
When it comes to the South, there are a few hobbies and activities that are considered very popular and fun to join in on! Hunting is one of those awesome hobbies! Herbert Hoover describes hunting and southern life by saying, "Through the eyes of a ten-year-old boy, it was a place of adventure and daily discoveries - the wonder of the growing crops, the excitements of the harvest, the journeys to the woods for nuts and hunting, the joys of snowy winters, the comfort of the family fireside, of good food and tender care." Donald Trump, Jr. describes and defends hunting by saying, "Anyone who thinks hunters are just 'bloodthirsty morons' hasn't looked into hunting. If you wait through long, cold hours in the November woods with a bow in your hands hoping a buck will show, or if you spend days walking in the African bush trailing Cape buffalo while listening to lions roar, you're sure to learn hunting isn't about killing." Another fun activity in the South is fishing! Catching giant fish on a hook with a piece of bate is probably one of the most satisfying feelings ever! Ted Hughes describes fishing by saying, "Fishing provides that connection with the whole living world. It gives you the opportunity of being totally immersed, turning back into yourself in a good way. A form of meditation, some form of communion with levels of yourself that are deeper than the ordinary self." Hunting and fishing are both amazingly fun to do!
