You've probably experienced a sugar hangover once or twice in your life. You wake up puffy, feeling groggy, and sluggish all day. And no, you didn't necessary down sugary alcoholic beverages the night before either. You had too much sugar.

Too much sugar is not a good thing, but we have some sugar hangover cures ready for you to try. So sit back, try to relax, and get your body back to normal.

What Is a Sugar Hangover?

Simply put, it's your body reacting to too much sugar. Maybe you threw back too many daiquiri's or went ham on candy for Halloween. Your body is not happy with you. Unlike a regular hangover, you could've been sober for this hangover.

How to Get a Sugar Hangover

You consumed too much sugar and now your blood sugar is off. You spiked and now you've fallen. A sugar hangover results in low blood sugar causing you to feel sluggish, have headaches, and other hangover-like characteristics.

How Much Sugar Is Too Much Sugar?

Based on a diet of 2,000 calories, you'll want to ingest 50 grams of sugar a day. Guess what your favorite candy bar has in it? Much more than that. Sickly sweet drinks? Same deal. So if you've had coffee, candy, and dessert all in one day, you might be feeling it the next day.

Sugar Hangover Cures

You might be at your desk or running errands with a screaming baby and pray to the Lord above to cure your sugar hangover. To get your body healthy again, you'll need a plan. But, fear not, we have some solutions.

Hydrate

Just like freshman year of college, you'll want to hydrate. Drinks lots of water and pedialyte, if that's your thing. You'll want to replenish your body with fluids which will help flush out that sugar hangover.

Leafy Greens

Back to vegetables we go! Make a leafy green smoothie or devour a kale salad, that vitamin K will reinstate some much needed antioxidants into your body. Toxins won't stand a chance next to your leafy greens.

No More Sugar, Duh

Maybe put down that second cup of coffee or sugary energy drink. Let your body detox and purge that sugar out of your body, skin, pores, orifices. Be mindful as to what you're putting into your body as many foods have sneaky levels of sugar in them.

Healthy Fats and Protein

Make salmon for dinner or snack on some macadamia nuts when you're hungry after your sugar hangover. Drizzle olive oil over some avocado slices or scramble some eggs to help your body get back to normal.

Sweat (or Steam) It Out

If you have access to a steam room or sauna, get your body over there. If you don't, you'll want to sweat it out the old fashion way—working out. Get your endorphins going and work those sweat glands. You did this to yourself so put those running shoes on and get sweaty.
