Roseanne Bar Blames the Drug, Ambien for Her Racists Tweets
Ambien does not cause racism.
Roseanne Bar is in hot water this week, thanks to her racist tweets about Obama advisor, Valerie Jarrett.
In a now, deleted tweet, Roseanne said:
"muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj."

I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.— Roseanne Barr (@therealroseanne) May 29, 2018
TV Show, 'Roseanne' Cancelled
Her cast mate, Sara Gilbert took to Twitter to condemn Roseanne's comments.
Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least.— sara gilbert (@THEsaragilbert) May 29, 2018
ABC, the parent company of 'Roseanne', cancelled the show hours later. The shows revival was met with great reviews and the premiere was greeted with 18.1 million viewers tuning in. They were given a second season before the first even ended.

Roseanne claimed she was on the sleeping drug, Ambien when she tweeted late at night.
The company who makes Ambien tweeted in response:
People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world. While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication.— Sanofi US (@SanofiUS) May 30, 2018
Ambien is a sleeping pill that helps with insomnia. "Clinical findings suggest that Ambien can give rise to bizarre behaviors, hallucinations, or agitation, especially when mixed with other sedatives like alcohol".
Side effects for Ambien vary from patient to patient.
"Nausea, vomiting, muscle cramps and/or diarrhea [are side effects of the sleeping drug, Ambien]".
"Some of these changes may be characterized by decreased inhibition, similar to effects produced by alcohol," according to its FDA-approved labeling.
"Visual and auditory hallucinations have been reported as well as behavioral changes such as bizarre behavior, agitation and depersonalization." Confusion, disorientation and aggression are also listed side effects, the label states".
After her show was cancelled and reruns were pulled from airing, Roseanne issued an apology:
