Do You Have These 10 Items Every Working Mom Needs?
Calling all working moms!
Like all working moms l bet you're always trying to find the hack that will make your life easier while still being super mom. If Mother's Day wasn't still a few month's off, I'd suggest sending this list to husbands and children that are thinking of presents for wives and mothers. However, maybe your husband does all the household stuff? But in any event, here are some good ideas to make your life easier and these are things that every household needs--even if it's dad who does the cooking!
When you're working and managing a family, you want things to make the life part of work-life balance run smoothly. These are guaranteed to help.
1. Crock-Pot or Instant Pot
These are two separate items that are actually the opposite of each other--but they serve the same purpose, dinner on the table, easily. With the Crock-Pot (or slow cooker) you dump everything in the pot before work in the morning, turn it on, and come home to a delicious dinner. With the Instant Pot, you can dump everything in when you get home and in a half an hour, it's ready to go. (The Instant Pot also does have a slow cooker function, but I swear by my Crock-Pot.)
2. Electric Wine Bottle Opener
Multiple moms say this is the key to happiness (with moderation, of course). Open your wine bottles effortlessly, so you can relax after a long day of work and family.
3. Circle With Disney
This allows you to control the internet with your iPhone. Well, not the entire internet, just the Wi-Fi within your home. Kids not doing their research because they keep watching YouTube videos? A couple taps on your phone and YouTube is blocked! Want to go to sleep in peace, knowing that your teen can't stay up until 2:00 a.m. watching Netflix? Click, click, done. Best thing ever. It allows a working mom to manage computer time even when she's in the office and the teens are home.
4. Dry Shampoo
I didn't realize this was a thing until a whole bunch of moms chimed in and told me this was not your '70s hair product. If you have complex hair that takes forever to dry, this allows you to go an extra day or two without washing your hair. It's the gift of time.
If you're a mom who misplaces your car keys or has a child who thinks it's funny to hide them someplace, this is the thing for you.
6. Amazon Prime and Amazon Prime Now
Anyone can get Amazon Prime, but if you're lucky enough to live in a few select metropolitan areas, you can get Prime Now, which delivers within two hours. A busy mom doesn't have a lot of time to spend at the store, making an Amazon Prime subscription the best way to stay on top of keeping the household stocked.
This is a bit high dollar compared to other things on this list, but it keeps your floors clean. It works on carpet and hardwoods and is even smart enough to not fall down the stairs. Some models are programmable, so you can set it to run after you leave the house and you come home to a vacuumed living room. Not bad.
8. Cleaning Lady
This is not a gadget, but as La Beene, a university professor and working mom, says, "I will give up ALL the lattes and a significant portion of pastry to afford this... It is like having elves. My person only comes twice a month for a few hours, but it saves me hours and hours of cleaning angst."
A cleaning lady (or man) who comes a couple times a month, or even once a year for that spring cleaning, can be well worth sacrifices in other areas of the budget.
9. Remote Car Starter
If you live in a cold climate, warming up the car while you and the kids are inside the warm house can be a godsend. If you live in a warm climate, cooling down the car while you and the kids are inside the cool house can be a godsend. Basically, it's good for everyone who doesn't live in a 70-degree-year-round paradise.
10. Laundry Board
Remember Sheldon folding his clothes on The Big Bang Theory? This is a real thing, and it makes your laundry look perfect. But the best thing about this is that it's so much fun to do that the kids may want to take over the task of folding all the T-shirts! Nice looking laundry that someone else does? What better household gadget is there?
