T-minus six days until Christmas, and if you're shopping for Hanukkah presents, same goes for you too! Do you still have a long list of family, friends and co-workers to grab last minute gifts for, but you have no idea where to start?
I have a gifting mantra that I will share with you. I know that often people just say that it's the thought that counts, but I also think it's how much thought, so it's really the thoughts that count.
So, when planning what to get for those last minute presents, the most important thing is to not sacrifice the thought that goes into picking your gifts.
The Internet is packed with online retailers that do reasonable rush deliveries for Christmas, so while you may not be able to get EVERYTHING, there is still plenty to choose from.
Get Personal with Laser Engraving
There are tons of local businesses and online companies that offer laser engraving services, which allows you to customize last minute presents by making them personal.
Great ideas are personalized cutting boards with a family motto or crest. A locket necklace with an I love you note or the persons initials is another great idea too. Plus wherever you are in the world there may be local businesses you can go to that will do this for you-- or you can find a retailer online. Here in Los Angeles, I faithfully go to Spoken Glass for all my laser engraving needs. The owner Conor Gaffney adds a level of customization, availability and personal care that makes it easy and painless for me to customize even an existing family heirloom.
Wrack your brain for those smaller items
All throughout the year, you may have made a mental notes of presents you should buy for your partner or parent. Remember that time two weeks ago your friend dropped her phone in the toilet? You know how she's too stubborn to buy a new case for it, (even though you know she'd love a new one)? There are countless places you can go to find a cell phone case in person or online last minute! Personalize their favorite foods and drinks.
ShopOreo.Com has something new, and this time it's not a wacky flavor or extra-thin cookies — it's the standard, classic chocolate and cream sandwich cookie combo we all know, with a fun twist. For a limited time during the holiday season, Oreo is offering customizable packages.
The new concept, Oreo Colorfilled, lets customers decorate and design cookie packaging as they please. There's the option to choose wintertime wrapper designs from two different artists, and add personalized holiday messages. Or go for a blank wrapper, grab a set of markers, and draw your own design.
Maybe It's An Experience? Plan a fun trip with family or friends!
Some people prefer experiences over presents. Offer to plan a trip for your loved one and see if they'd rather do that than exchange gifts this year! There's no reason to waste money on a present if you know that your partner or parent would much rather visit a National Park or go finally catch that plane somewhere tropical! Plus, it’s a great way for you to catch up and maybe even hear some epic stories from their pasts.
