If you want to know how to hide other people’s stories on Snapchat, the answer is a little more dramatic than you might like. How to hide other people’s stories on Snapchat isn’t quite as easy as it is on some other apps. You’re going to have to really commit if you want to figure out how to hide other people’s stories on Snapchat, so get ready to buckle in. In an ideal world, you’d basically want the same setup as Facebook, where you are able to just unfollow someone. Because when you unfollow someone, everything else remains the same— you’re still friend, but you don’t see their updates in your timeline. For Snapchat, it’s a little more complicated.
But let’s be honest, Snapchat can get overwhelming. Sometimes you just need to tune out of certain people. Maybe it’s because you’ve actually had a falling out with them, but maybe it’s just because all of the updates are too damn much sometimes. So if you don’t want to see someone’s story updated every two seconds, you don’t have to. The bad new? You’re basically going to have kiss that person goodbye— well, on Snapchat at least. So here’s how you stop seeing someone’s story on Snapchat.
If You Want To Hide Someone's Snapchat Story You Need To Block Them
I know, it's really annoying. But how to hide someone's Snapchat story involves blocking them completely. There's no 'unfollow' option. It's really easy to do:
"Tap the settings wheel in the upper right hand corner. Tap 'My Friends' on the Profile Screen. Tap on their name. Tap the the settings wheel below their name and select 'Block' to prevent them from sending you Snaps, Chats, or from viewing your Story."
Now, that seems extreme— so there is a slightly weirder option you can take.
Ask Your Friends To Block You On Snapchat... Sort Of
Basically, you control what other people see. So, if you had a big test coming out and need to focus, you could ask your friends to make their Snaps not visible to you by changing their privacy settings.
Snapchat explains: "By default, only ‘Friends’ you’ve added on Snapchat can contact you directly or view your Story. If you’d like to change your privacy settings, here’s how! 👯
Tap in the top right-hand corner of the Profile screen. Scroll down to the 'Who Can…' section and tap an option. Choose an option, then tap the back button to save your choice."
So it's kind of annoying that there's no 'mute' or 'unfollow' button on Snapchat, but if you're willing to really commit— or get your friends involved— you can learn how to stop yourself from seeing other people's stories on Snapchat. If you're game, there is a way.
