Queer Christmas Hallmark Movies? I Wish! Try These Books Instead
I recently read an article that featured all the new Christmas movies coming out this year. As a queer woman, I was saddened (but not surprised) to see that there wasn't one that featured any LGBTQ romance or characters. While it isn't the same, there are a wealth of queer Christmas romance novels for folks to enjoy.
I wish that I was able to list every single LGBTQ Christmas romance novel, but there are just too many and I would undoubtedly miss some. The ones I included are just a few recommendations I have for you to enjoy.

1. 'Christmas on Emerald Mountain' by Cara Malone
For ten years, Carmen's family has taken tropical vacations over Christmas. This year, her dad wants to go to Colorado, which is how they end up on Emerald Mountain. She meets Joy, a woman who works at the resort they're staying at. Their Christmas romance quickly grows into something more.
2. 'Irises in the Snow' by Isabelle Adler
Instead of going to art school, Justin took over the family business, which is now bleeding money. To top it off, he finds out his boyfriend has cheated on him. When he heads home for the holidays, he finds his old BFF who once broke his heart at the party. Is this their second chance at love?
3. 'Carolyn for Christmas' by Lucy Carey
Rivals Carolyn and Saoirse are both gunning for the same Christmas concert solo. Coming from two different worlds, they struggle to understand each other. However, they'll be forced to confront their differences after they get trapped inside their old school.
4. 'A Christmas Promise' by K.C. Wells
While driving home, Micah discovers a beaten-up man, Greg, on the side of the road. He takes Greg home with him so he can heal. While it sounds like Micah is being altruistic, it turns out he knows Greg and is eager for answers. However, Greg also seeks answers of his own, and Christmas may just provide them the chance to get them.
5. 'Mangos and Mistletoe' by Adriana Herrera
Dominican-born Kiskeya leaves home for Scotland for the Holiday Baking Challenge. If she wins, she'll finally be able to prove to everyone she has a place in the culinary world. Sully has spent years being her family's caregiver, but now she's ready to enter the baking world. Kiskeya and Sully get paired up, and it doesn't take long before sparks fly.
6. 'Do You Feel What I Feel: A Holiday Anthology'
Do You Feel What I Feel is a collection of twelve holiday lesbian fiction stories. The anthology includes a tale about Santa's sister and an elderly woman debating on whether or not to bring her partner home for the holidays.
7. 'A Very Surrey SFS Christmas' by Nicola Davidson
Nicola Davidson's Surrey Sexual Freedom Society is exactly what it sounds like: a series about sexually liberated folks. Davidson's latest offering is a Christmas tale in which Society members congregate for a masked ball. The book features a variety of couples, sexualities, and characters you'll love.
8. 'Holiday Gridlock' by Gretchen Evans
Make sure you read the first novella in the Bumper to Bumper series before checking out Holiday Gridlock, the tale of the next stage in Gabe and Mark's relationship. Mark invites Gabe to meet his family over the holidays, something Gabe isn't sure he's ready for. Gabe will be forced to confront his fears if they're to have a real shot at love.
9. 'Miss Dominguez's Christmas Kiss and Other Stories' by Lydia San Andres
Lydia San Andres' anthology features three holiday stories, one of them an adorable F/F story. Miss Dominguez's Christmas Kiss is about Lourdes and Marisol, two friends and roommates at a boarding house. They also happen to have feelings for each other. 10. 'The Problem With Mistletoe' by Kyle Baxter
Between being a single father, his job, and planning a holiday part for his mom, David is too busy for love. Alex, an old friend who just returned to town, gets roped into helping David with the Christmas party. Alex isn't looking for love either, but sometimes life has other plans.
11. 'Holme for the Holidays' by Miranda MacLeod
Paige is an American musician who ends up in Yorkshire during a house swap. In a pub, she meets, Fiona, singer who suffered a tragic loss. They share a fun night together, never expecting to see each other again. But they run into each other again and, through a series of unfortunate events, learn they may just both find love again.
12. 'Home for the Holidays' by Jerry Cole
Max is the family failure, so he doesn't really want to head home for the holidays. At the airport, he runs into Jason, his childhood best friend turned enemy. Jason isn't interested in talking because, once upon a time, Max really messed up. After they end up trapped in the airport, they're forced to confront both their past and future.
