Get excited, Shondaland fans! ABC will be releasing a new legal drama to the Fall 2017 lineup called For The People! Perhaps Shonda Rhimes' new show will fill the void that'll be left behind by the ending of Scandal after Season 7. But, the episode description makes For The People seem more like Grey's Anatomy! Regardless, here is everything we know about Shondaland's new show, For The People. And to say we are excited is an understatement!
What Is Shonda Rhimes' For The People About?
Here is what ABC has to say about the new series:
Set in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, aka "The Mother Court," this new Shondaland drama coming to ABC follows brand-new lawyers working for both the defense and the prosecution handling the most high-profile and high-stakes federal cases in the country—all as their lives intersect in and out of the courtroom.
So, it definitely seems like For The People will be more like Season 1 of Grey's Anatomy! And we're so in for that! And if that doesn't get you excited, check out the official trailer below!
Who Is Starring In The New Shondaland Show For The People?
Like most of Shonda Rhimes' television shows, like Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder, and Grey's Anatomy, For The People will feature a cast of relatively new faces!
So far, we know that For The People will star Hunters', Britne Oldford, as Sandra Black, who, according to TV Guide is a "rookie public defender who was motivated to become an attorney by an injustice her family suffered when she was a child."
The new show will also star Lyndon Smith, Ben Rappaport, Wesam Keesh, Ben Shenkman, Hope Davis, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Anna Deavere Smith, and Rege-Jean Page.
And what we're super excited for are the guest stars that will appear from other Shondaland shows, which Shonda is pretty well known for. Could we possibly see Ellen Pompeo, A.K.A. Meredith Grey, on For The People for a few episodes? Who knows!
When Will For The People Air On ABC?
As of now, one knows the premiere date of For The People, but it is expected to air this upcoming 2017-18 season. So stay tuned! But, it looks like For The People might join Grey's Anatomy and Scandal as one of Shondaland's best binge-worthy shows for the upcoming fall season!
