Meredith Grey's Return to the Dating Scene is the Love Story We All Need Right Now
Unless you've been living under a very sad rock, you'll know that Grey's Anatomy season 15 returns in less than two weeks! The final countdown is here and we are so ready for it. While details on what's to come in the fifteenth season of the ABC medical drama, showrunner Krista Vernoff recently opened up about what's happening with Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) love life and after hearing some of these spoilers, we're so excited to see what's to come for her in season 15.

Krista Vernoff on Meredith Grey's Journey Back Into Love
In an interview with TVLine, Vernoff revealed that Meredith's return to the dating scene will be hard.
How hard? Maybe even harder than Megan's abdominal wall transplant back in season. If that's even possible.
"Everybody has to do it, so it's very human and very relatable," Vernoff said. "I was really interested in seeing someone as beautiful and smart and funny and complex as Meredith actually have to put herself out there."
And while we've all seen Meredith date in Grey's Anatomy, it looks like things are going to be much different this time around, especially since Mer is widowed and already found the love of her life.
"It's something that somehow we've never really seen in 15 seasons of this show," Vernoff said.
In fact, it looks like Meredith's status opened up doors for their writers, looking for inspiration from people with a similar story.
"The joy for me in working on this story with her and the writers was in looking at the women in our lives who find themselves single after a happy marriage," Vernoff said. "There are things that they have in common, [such as] that that next great love doesn't just fall into your lap! One has to grieve, and then one has to move forward and then try a rebound relationship. Then one has to go out into the world with an open heart, and without jadedness or fear, and say, ‘OK, universe. I'm looking. I'm available.' And they have to dip their toe back into the dating pool."
Who Will Meredith End Up With at the End of Season 15?
So, who will Meredith end up with in season 15? Well, it looks like you're going to have to wait and see. Although we know that Mer hooks up with DeLuca in the teaser trailer, we're pretty sure that he's not The One that our girl is looking for.
Vernoff is also staying mum on this one.
"I can't tease who she will end up with," Vernoff said. "But I can say that it is going to be a joyful, funny, complicated journey to get there."
While we're obviously disappointed that Vernoff was unable to give us some hints about what's to come for Mer in terms of who her new love is, we're pretty damn excited!
