Before pivoting to full-time writing, Cammy was a part-time college professor of writing and research methods.

Cammy has a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College, an M.F.A. in Writing from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in English Literature, with a special interest in feminist theory, from SUNY Binghamton.
