Can Someone See If You Like A Private Photo On Instagram?
Many Instagram users want to know: Can someone see if you like a private photo on Instagram? Every social media site is different when it comes to their privacy settings, so there is a lot of inaccurate information on the internet about them.
Instagram’s photo privacy works by ensuring only followers you approve can see posts if you’ve set your profile to private.
This means that if you like someone’s private photo, only that person’s approved followers will see the photo in their feed, via hashtag/location pages.
This also means that most people will not be able to see that you liked the photo in the Activity > Following feed unless that person is also an approved follower of the private profile in question.
According to Instagram’s official statement on the matter:
When you like a photo, it's visible to anyone who can see the post. Your followers may also see your username below a photo you've liked, no matter how many likes it has.
After 4 likes, photos show the number of likes, along with usernames of some people you follow who have liked it.
If your account is set to private:
- Only your approved followers can see your posts, including any likes and comments.
- Likes on your posts won't appear in the Activity > Following feed.
- When you like a public post, your like will be visible to everyone and your username will be clickable below the post, but only approved followers can see your posts.
TL;DR: There is no way for someone to see that you liked a private photo on Instagram unless that person also follows the private Instagram account in questions.
