Known as "The Master of Suspense," Alfred Hitchcock is one of the greatest filmmakers in cinema history who opened the doors to new frights and terror beyond the public's imagination. Hitchcock was born August, 13, 1989 in England and was the youngest of three children. He found his love of movies at an early age and was a fan of iconic stars such as Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton and managed to get his foot in the door when Paramount Pictures opened a studio in London in 1919. Through out his career, Hitchcock created 50 films including classic such as "North by Northwest," "The Birds," "Psycho," "Rear Window," "Dial M for Murder," "Strangers on a Train," "Rebecca," and "To Catch a Thief." Despite his immense contribution to the world of cinema, Hitchcock never won any of his five Academy Award nominations for Best Director but won the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 1968. Other favorite hits from Hitch are "The Man Who Knew Too Much," "Vertigo," "Rope," "Notorious," "Suspicion," "Marnie," "The Wrong Man" and "Spellbound." Out of all his films, Hitchcock only made one comedy, "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," starring Robert Montgomery and the Queen of Screwball comedy, Carole Lombard.
