Now don't you feel bad for jumping on that band wagon...

The Short of It:

As soon as everyone heard about the Brangelina breakup it was easy for everyone to jump back to 2005 when Brad and Angelina's relationship first became a public spectacle. You'll remember that Pitt was married to Jennifer Anniston at the time and various "I'm With Her" shirts were made. This week, soon after the announcement of the couple's split, the internet went on a witch hunt for the cause of the breakup and jumped on Pitt's most recent film project and the co-star of the film, actress Marion Cotillard. Because why not? He'd done it 11 years ago, obviously he was doing it now. But not so, says Cotillard. The actress published a statement yesterday on Instagram that tells everyone to kindly back off.

In the statement, Cotillard addresses rumors that she was behind the divorce of Brangelina and that her most recent pregnancy was connected to Pitt. The actress used her statement to make ut clear that her partner, Guillaume Canet, who fathers her 5-year-old, is the love of her life and father to her second child. It also reminds us that rumors like these deeply effect people and their families. That they cause pain and that oh yeah actors are real people.

"This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into. I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up. Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need. Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn't distressing. And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery. Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment. With all my love Marion Ceci"

The Takeaway:

Instagram

Following Pitt and Jolie's divorce announcement, Marion Cotillard's Instagram has been overrun by hateful words from internet trolls. It's sad that Cotillard who is in a happy marriage had to defend herself in such way. #Stoponlinebullying
