Remember '90s Star Mary Steenburgen? Here's What She Looks Like Now
Mary Steenburgen has appeared in several dozen films since her acting debut in the 1970s, but she'll always be remembered for her memorable roles in '90s movies like "Parenthood" and "Philadelphia." With her mocha-brown hair, piercing green eyes, charismatic smile, and, of course, signature high-pitched voice and Southern accent, she always brought warmth, candor, and infectious likability to her characters. And after all of her time in the business, some may be wondering what she looks like now.
In her 70s at the time of reporting, Steenburgen appears untouched by aging, still beaming her infectious smile and bursting with vitality. "I just love living. Laughter and staying curious about the world are the best elixirs," she told People [via Daily Mail]. These days, she wears her hair straighter and in a lighter blond color but looks every bit as she did in the 1990s. If you ask Steenburgen how she compares to her younger self, she said she was, "A little curlier, a little buffer but pretty much the same," in an Instagram video of the viral 'Mom, what were you like in the '90s?' trend.
Steenburgen also now has an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, and Actors Award under her belt. She still dabbles in acting, also filmmaking and songwriting, while enjoying being a real-life mom of two and stepmom to husband Ted Danson's two daughters. When she's not lighting up the big screen, fans can catch glimpses of her at home with Danson, whether celebrating their pup Blue's birthday or trying to keep the needy pooch from interrupting their meditation.
Mary Steenburgen's timeless-looking secret
Mary Steenburgen's secret to looking so radiant in her 70s is not to think about aging at all. Much like fellow actor Amy Adams, who is "very grateful" to embrace aging in Hollywood, Steenburgen celebrates the years she has lived and appreciates the present. "What I don't do is think about aging very much," she told Gigi Saffron & Ever. "I like being the age I am and I am grateful to be alive at such an amazing moment in time." Part of Steenburgen's youthful glow also comes from having a positive outlook and focusing on the things that bring happiness in her life. "There is no substitute for laughter and love," she told the outlet. "They do more to make people beautiful than anything."
The actor did, however, share her very reserved beauty efforts, revealing that she enjoys using Young Living Essential Oils and their skincare line, along with Arcona's products and facials. In an Allure exclusive, she mentioned particularly liking the peppermint blend and another called 'Sensation' for when she's feeling distracted or a little tired. This is similar to the super simple skincare non-negotiables that keep Demi Moore looking flawless.
Additionally, Steenburgen mainly sticks to a vegetarian diet. For exercise, she simply enjoys hiking with her dogs in the morning and practices TM (transcendental meditation). "It makes whatever stresses the day might bring much easier to deal with. It also helps with energy," she told Gigi Saffron & Ever.
