Sarah Jessica Parker Swaps Her Signature Curls For A Long Gray Braid, And Just Wow
Sarah Jessica Parker served some major hair inspo at the New York City Ballet Gala on October 2, 2026. The former "Sex and The City" actor appeared alongside her husband Matthew Broderick, having swapped her signature blond, loose curls for a long, gray blending (which puts a twist on traditional salt and pepper hair) braid. And, seriously, just wow. Parker was clearly having fun swishing her fun look from side to side on the red carpet to ensure the world saw her chunky braid entwined with a long, light pink ribbon. "Soooo beautiful!!! Looking like Rapunzel," one X user wrote, while another commented on Instagram, "Love love the braid."
The star's style did so much more than just look good though. Her glam hairstyle appeared to be a nod to the pink ribbon often seen on ballet shoes, and it matched the corset detailing and ribbon on her dress. Parker's tresses were also a defiant statement that there's still plenty of opportunity to have fun with gray hair. The actor and fashionista refused to cut her locks short or make her grays more understated. Instead, she decorated her multi-dimensional locks and seemingly added extensions for more length and volume to draw more attention to her 'do. "I love a good ribbon. In fact, we asked for extra ribbon," she told The New York Times at the event.
Sarah Jessica Parker has proudly embraced her gray hair
Sarah Jessica Parker got very candid about being a celebrity who's embraced her gray hair long before the New York City Ballet Gala. Speaking to Allure in 2022, she said, "It became months and months of conversation about how brave I am for having gray hair. I was like, 'please please applaud someone else's courage on something!'" She also elaborated on why she stopped dying her locks so severely, sharing, "I can't spend time getting base color every two weeks. Can't do it. Nope. Too much." And, honestly, who can blame her?
Parker has worn multiple stylish hair dos that have highlighted her gray strands since then, including the slicked down side ponytail she sported at a Fendi fashion show in July 2026 (as seen in photo above). But her gorgeous XXL braid, which tapped into the 2026 hair trends that help you transition to gray, is one of our very favorites. And we can't wait to see what fashionable style she inspires us with next.
