Baby Name Expert: Kaley Cuoco's Second Child Might Get A Taylor Swift-Inspired Pick
Kaley Cuoco and Tom Pelphrey shared that they were expecting their second child, a baby girl, on Instagram on June 10, 2026. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Matilda Carmine Richie Pelphrey, on March 30, 2023, and so a second daughter comes with great excitement and anticipation. And Cuoco is dressing the part. At 40, Cuoco jumped on the cape dress trend with her sleekest pregnancy look yet. Part of this hype is about the baby's name, and baby name consultant Taylor A. Humphrey, founder of What's in a Baby Name, spoke exclusively with Women.com about the name that Cuoco and Pelphrey might choose for their second daughter. Humphrey's prediction was that the baby might get a Taylor Swift-inspired moniker: Ophelia.
Of course, there are reasons for this. Cuoco herself is a well-known celebrity Swiftie, having once joked to E! Online that she watches football games to see if the musician is there. "I'm like, 'Is Taylor at the game? Are we watching the Chiefs game. Is Taylor there? What's she wearing?'" she told the publication (via Yahoo). So her taking inspiration from one of Swift's song titles isn't so surprising.
However, Humphrey's hypothesis is based on the fact that Cuoco and Pelphrey chose the vintage name Matilda for their first daughter. "While feminine-sounding, Matilda actually means 'strength in battle' and has been borne by queens and empresses throughout history," Humphrey explained. "The name Matilda gives us a lot to think about when it comes to Baby #2." Humphrey noted that the name is both frilly and strong; it's regal and approachable. Ophelia, by comparison is girly, but has a touch of antiquity to it. It makes sense that the singer is associated with an old fashion name, because many of Swift's outfits had a fun vintage vibe to them. Ophelia really strikes the right balance.
Kaley Cuoco and Tom Pelphrey might choose Ophelia or another vintage-style name for baby #2
While the Taylor Swift-approved name Ophelia seems promising for the second daughter of Kaley Cuoco and Tom Pelphrey, baby name consultant Taylor A. Humphrey had some other ideas up her sleeve. Cuoco's first daughter, Matilda Carmine Richie Pelphrey, is named after her father, Gary Carmine Cuoco, and Pelphrey's father, Richard Pelphrey. Humphrey wondered if both of their mothers,
Layne Ann Cuoco and Laurie Pelphrey, might influence the baby's name. "'Laurie Layne' has an adorable ring to it!" Humphrey told Women.com. "I could also see them combining the two names into something like Lorraine, which would also be very sweet."
Humphrey said that if Cuoco and Pelphrey were her clients, she's encourage a few options linked to vintage styles as well as the grandmothers. Her first was the name Susannah Lorraine. "This beautiful, vintage Americana style name offers familiarity and uniqueness," Humphrey said. "Both names borrow elements from grandmothers' names Laurie and Layne Ann, making it a creative way to honor both sides." In addition, Humphrey suggested the name Aurora Philippa Layne. "Aurora shares the letters 'aur' with grandma Laurie's name," Humphrey said. Philippa means "lover of horses," which is fitting considering the fact that Cuoco is an avid equestrian. "Layne would honor her mother, Layne Ann." With Cuoco being one of many celebrities with iconic maternity fashion, she's sure to name her daughter something stunning. It may very well be a nod to Swift.
