Taylor Swift's Bling Nails At 2026 VMAs Are The Perfect Twist On 'No Manicure' Trend

Taylor Swift made the whole place shimmer in her sparkling Tamara Ralph gown at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards — but it was her perfectly sparkly twist on the 'no manicure' trend that we couldn't stop staring at. Miss Americana being Miss Americana, she wasn't going to do this understated look (which you may also know as the 'bare nail' trend) without some flare, so she combined two trends into one. Swift wore a similar barely there polish to the one we saw in Mariska Hargitay's 'no-mani' look at the 2026 Emmys, but combined it with the blingy crystal nail trend that rose to prominence in spring by adding clear rhinestones. Not only did the star (or her manicurist) mix big and small gems to add whimsy to the minimalist no-manicure trend we've also seen on Kate Middleton and Pamela Anderson, Swift also appeared to have a subtle, super fine silver glitter polish on the ends.

Swift didn't publicly share if there was specific inspo behind her light-catching nails, but her manicure may well have been a nod to her "The Life of a Showgirl" era aesthetic. The star dropped "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore," a deluxe version of the 2025 album, on September 25 (just two days before the VMAs) and the artwork is full of sparkle, sequins, and rhinestones. Another possibility? The diamond-like nail gems may have been a nod to the "Wildest Dreams" singer making her first red carpet appearance since marrying Travis Kelce in July. Swift proudly showed off her engagement ring and what appeared to be her wedding ring, which seemingly featured multiple diamonds around the band. And her sparkle-filled mani certainly matched her glam new jewelry.

Swift appeared to wear a couple of coats of a sheer light pink polish like OPI's Put It In Neutral or Essie's Ballet Slippers. For Swift's subtle glitter, let the pink shade dry and then apply a fine silver or white glitter polish over the top, like ILNP's Tinsel or ZOYA's Pixiedust, to the tips only.
