What's more, this shade is also one of the crowning colors trending for fall 2026. In a September 2026 appearance for the premiere of Tom Cruise's "Digger", the beloved royal appeared in a gorgeous, royal purple, V-neck Jenny Packham gown with sheer long sleeves.
It's no surprise that Kate was spotted in the vibrant color. The royal purple shade has been seen in multiple fall/winter collections for 2026, including Celine, Mugler, and Balenciaga. It suited Kate wonderfully, not only due to her status as the Princess of Wales, but also because it gave her an aura of elegance. In fact, this outfit might be one of Kate Middleton's most eye-wateringly expensive red carpet dresses, especially with the jewels she used to accessorize. For the occasion, the future British queen went all out by opting to adorn herself in an heirloom amethyst necklace that once belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, which is worth a little more than $66,000 today. "Class," an Instagram user commented, alongside several applause emojis.
Purple is truly Kate Middleton's color
Kate Middleton has shown in the past that royal purple is truly her color. Back in November 2023, the Princess of Wales showed up to an event held at London's Design Museum all decked out in the color. It's definitely one of Kate Middleton's most sophisticated monochrome outfits to date, with a double-breasted blazer and crisp pants to match. She completed the look with only a pair of dangling earrings and dark blue pumps.

The Princess of Wales has dabbled in other shades of purple in the past, straying from royal purple to a deeper, burgundy shade. While it's evident that the senior royal can rock any color, purple shades of all kinds truly flatter her.
