Once upon a time in Hollywood, Richard Gere was a red-hot heartthrob while Cindy Crawford was a young model on the rise. The two met at a barbecue in 1988, when Gere was 38 and Crawford was only 21. Despite their age gap, the two became an iconic power couple, with their red carpet debut at the 1991 Academy Awards making major headlines before they eloped to Las Vegas later in the year.

This remains an iconic celebrity moment despite the couple ultimately splitting in 1995, being a standout in terms of fashion, too. Both Selena Gomez and The Weeknd have had a share of high-profile romances, which made their debut as a couple at the 2017 Met Gala all the more remarkable. The two were first romantically connected at the start of year, with Gomez leaving a messy online dispute with her on-and-off-again beau Justin Bieber behind in the summer of 2016.
