When it comes to beauty, Meghan Markle has her routine dialed in. The lifestyle guru has figured out what products work best for her by experimenting with different makeup styles to find what she likes. Markle even loves this one anti-aging practice, though she admits it might seem weird. When it comes to her signature beauty look, Markle has landed on one combo that works best for her, and it just so happens to be a classic pairing: a nude lip and smoky eye. She even revealed that her favorite lip color is a well-known cult favorite: Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria. The brilliance of this age-old pairing is that the subtle lip color leaves all the dramatic focus on the accentuated highs.

Min Min Ma is the celebrity makeup artist who helped create Markle's beauty signature, which she describes as "a sun-kissed complexion, soft smoky eyes in bronzy, earthy tones and soft nude pink/coral lips" in a 2017 interview with E! News. In fact, it's been Markle's go-to for so long that it can feel jarring to see her in a different style, like bright red lipstick. While a smoky eye and nude lipstick might feel like a glam combo, Markle opts for a version that's relatively subtle. While there have been a few Markle makeup mistakes we just couldn't ignore, it seems she's  learned there's power in sticking with a tried-and-true combo.

When it comes to beauty, Meghan Markle believes less is more

Meghan Markle has spoken candidly about her insecurities regarding her appearance. In particular, she admitted that she had to learn to love her freckles, which she rarely saw included in conventional depictions of beauty. "When I was auditioning for commercials, I remember my commercial agent could not submit me for beauty or skincare ads because I had freckles," said Markle during a 2025 episode of her podcast "Confessions of a Female Founder" (via PureWow). "They were like, 'No, no. It's just never going to work because freckles aren't a sign of beauty' ... You couldn't see yourself reflected there."

However, over the years, Markle has grown to love and be more confident with her bare face. On several occasions, Markle has been absolutely stunning going makeup-free, and even her version of "full beat" makeup utilizes a light-handed touch. "Meghan's makeup philosophy is a masterclass in enhancing natural beauty. Her approach isn't about masking her features but celebrating them," makeup artist Saffron Hughes told Country & Town House in 2024. "By using lightweight foundations that allow her freckles to shine through, she demonstrates that makeup should be a tool of empowerment, not concealment." Ultimately, Markle has managed to take a famous makeup look and update it to suit her own preferences. The result is a perfect example of personal style in action.
