We're certainly not complaining — A clear departure from ostentatious, overly decorative, and complex nail art looks, barely-there nail shades are shaping up to be one of the eight nail shades that will dominate 2026. This type of nail trend involves painting your nails in a slightly rosy, light blush shade that appears both natural and clean, imitating an organically healthy look. 

But achieving this pared-down nail look involves more than just applying a nail polish and a top coat. "The reality is, a clean manicure is still a manicure," Jessica White, professional nail artist and founder of Blanc Studios, exclusively told Marie Claire. In short, if you don't take care of your nails properly and consistently, it will be evident, despite incorporating the barely-there nail look. So while this nail trend looks the easiest to replicate, it does take some work to pull off.

Celebs are known to serve some serious nail inspo, like how Victoria Beckham loves manicures that throw out the rulebook for older women's nails. But they're also jumping on the bandwagon for barely-there nail looks, as seen on Anne Hathaway during the premiere of "The Odyssey". She proudly showcased her nude nails, which matched the ethereal, soft look she was going for on the red carpet. "Anne really wanted something that felt chic and effortless," Mo Qin, her nail artist, exclusively shared with People. She then revealed that she used the cost-effective Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish in shade Fairy Tailor for Hathaway's nail look, making it easy to recreate.

Another celeb that's leaning toward the trend is Oscar winner Jessie Buckley. For her appearance at the 98th Academy Awards, Buckley let her nail artist, Queenie Nguyen, do her magic. Not only did Nguyen do some intensive skin and nail prep, but she used a combination of Chanel's La Base Camelia and Le Gel Coat to achieve the minimalist look. So if you're looking to channel soft sensuality and understated refinement, then the barely-there nail trend is the one to go for.
