Carole Middleton And Queen Camilla Love Them: How The Royals Style Block Heels

The British royal family, known for their grandeur and prestige, has long drawn interest from all over the world. But certain members of the royal family have made their mark as trendsetters in the fashion space, from Kate Middleton's most eye-wateringly expensive red carpet dresses to Queen Camilla's most fashionable outfits. But aside from gorgeous gowns and jewels, it seems the royals know a thing or two about footwear, especially comfortable ones for older women.

Queen Camilla and Carole Middleton (Kate's mother) have been spotted wearing block heels, a particularly stylish yet sensible choice for shoes. The two women were attending Royal Ascot in June 2026, with Queen Camilla dressed head-to-toe in white, while Carole was dressed in a pale blue tailored gown with a white hat. But they were wearing similar pairs of block heel shoes, one of the best heel choices for older women. The block heels were undoubtedly comfy and much more forgiving to wear for long occasions such as the Royal Ascot, and especially when walking on grass. Both the queen consort and Carole also stuck to nude colors for their shoes, so as not to clash with the rest of their outfits.

Kate Middleton also loves a block heel

Queen Camilla isn't the only royal known to wear block heels. It seems Kate Middleton herself is a fan of block heels, particularly in the form of boots. In March 2026, the Princess of Wales was spotted out and about in London wearing a pair of suede block heel boots. As the future British queen was on a hectic schedule that day, her choice of footwear was certainly the right one. And paired with her checked blazer and dark brown slacks, she certainly knew how to style any sort of block heel.

Although sensible heels are usually what we see the women of the British royal family wear, it seems wearing flats isn't out of the question either. In fact, Queen Camilla has been seen in the past favoring loafers for public events. The then-Duchess of Cornwall was pictured back in 2010 in Marazion, Cornwall. Dressed in a pastel green suit dress, the former socialite wore the dress with Marks & Spencer loafers, which works just as well as any other pair of heels.
