Jennie Garth has no issue with getting some deeply personal things off her chest, as evident with Garth chasing 'truth' and self-reflection in both her favorite books and memoir, "I Choose Me: Chasing Joy, Finding Purpose & Embracing Reinvention". One of the topics she was open to discussing was her divorce to Peter Facinelli in 2013, whom she'd been married to for more than a decade. In an exclusive interview with People, she revealed how much she had struggled after her split from Facinelli. "I noticed my light really dimming," she told the publication, "I could look at the negative impact that that kind of grief and anger was having on me."
The "90210" star confessed that she fell into bad habits, overindulging in drinking and drugs until she had to go to the Canyon Ranch rehab center for her own good. Garth stated that a sudden "weird switch" turned things around for her and made her realize that she needed to emotionally heal from the divorce and move on. "I don't want to carry this anymore. ... I've got to let it go. I've got to forgive him." And it seemed that Garth has successfully accomplished the latter and taken her life back. Moreover, Garth seemed not to need our tips for getting back into dating after a divorce, as she's found love again with now-husband Dave Abrams.
Jennie Garth went through tough times in her third marriage
Although she lucked out in love again with Dave Abrams, Jennie Garth revealed she also went through difficult times in this marriage. The couple had been trying for a child, and every unsuccessful attempt chipped away at them. Their relationship deteriorated to the point that Garth discovered Abrams had filed for divorce in 2018, but not from her husband himself or through a divorce lawyer, but from TMZ. Similar to the aftermath of her split from Facinelli, Garth fell back into drinking during her estrangement with Abrams.
But thankfully, Garth and Abrams cancelled their divorce and reunited in 2019. Upon reflecting on the situation, Garth understood what she did wrong that contributed to their brief split. "I really wanted to give Dave a baby because he was young and all of his friends were having kids, and I just thought that's what he needed," Garth exclusively shared with People. She further added that she is past "people-pleasing," and would now take into account her own desires in the marriage and not just her husband's. And it seems things are looking up for the couple, as they've celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in 2025 in this Instagram post.
