Jane Fonda Is The Ultimate Style Inspo For Wearing Heels Over 80
There's a common belief in society that when you reach a certain age, that it's time to slow down. But Hollywood legend Jane Fonda refuses to follow that blueprint and is still active in the public eye. She remains bold and outspoken in her late 80s, as seen by Fonda's frank comments on sex, which are totally breaking the stigma around intimacy. But aside from that, Fonda reflects this philosophy in her footwear choices, and it's clear that she's not swapping her stylish heels for sensible flats anytime soon.
As seen in the image above, the "Grace and Frankie" star confidently walked the red — or green — carpet in golden high-heeled boots for the screening of her 1967 rom-com "Barefoot in the Park" in late April 2026. She paired the boots with a dark purple suit and a chunky gold necklace, and though her outfit was a stellar choice, it was certainly her boots that did all the talking. And it seems Fonda is very particular about the type of heels she's wearing, often opting for block heels. This was again evident when she attended the 79th Cannes Film Festival in May 2026, in a form-fitting white suit paired with silver pumps with a chunky heel. So, while Fonda is loving a heel, she's still keeping balance and stability in mind.
Jane Fonda is also a fan of sneakers
Despite Jane Fonda's preference for block heels, the veteran actor appears to have developed a fondness for sneakers. But to be more specific, a certain type of sneaker that also gives her a little boost. As seen in the image above, the "Barbarella" actor made an Instagram post in September 2024, where she showcased herself wearing a somewhat unconventional pair of sneakers — sneakers with heels! While you won't find these on the list for the best heel choices for older women, the two-time Oscar-winning actor praised how cushy they are.
According to Fonda, the sneaker heels were created by a close friend of hers, Sara Blakely, who's the founder of Spanx. "[My friend] told me she had always dreamed of shoes that were as comfortable as sneakers but in high heels. Well now she's gone and done them!" Fonda enthusiastically wrote in the caption. Most of her fans seemed to echo her sentiments, with one user commenting alongside heart emojis, "Those shoes are to die for!" But there were some who didn't shy away from making their less-than-positive opinions known. "Am I the only person that doesn't like those shoes?" Another user noted. But no matter what is being said, it seems Fonda is more than satisfied with what's in her shoe closet.
