The Accessory Trends That Will Elevate Your Summer 2026 Outfits

Summer 2026 is a season of self-expression, primarily by way of accessories. Since we're no longe layering with winter clothing, these extra details can take an outfit to the next level. To get the best handle on accessorizing for summer 2026, Women.com spoke exclusively with personal stylist and educator Jordan Stolch of MiKADO Personal Styling. Between the spring and summer 2026 shoe trends you'll be seeing everywhere, as well as the hottest nail colors, this season has a lot in store for those who love a bold pop of color.

For those who love dopamine dressing and maximalism, this summer is slated to be extra fun. "Summer accessory trends have evolved quite a bit over the past few years, shifting from minimalist, simplistic 'quiet luxury,' toward more expressive, personality-driven pieces," Stolch told us. "Broadly speaking, accessories have become less about simply completing an outfit or creating an 'add-on,' and more about showcasing individuality and personal style to the point that they now almost define the outfit." This means that accessories are doing the heavy lifting this summer, and the range of options is wide and vivacious.

Coastal accessories bring the beachy charm to summer

Summer 2026 is all about coastal accessories. The idea is to bring sweet details from the beach into everyday outfits. Stylish Jordan Stolch exclusively tells Women.com why the coastal aesthetic is so compelling. "Shell jewelry, woven raffia bags, fisherman-inspired details, and artisanal textures will continue holding momentum in Summer 2026 as consumers gravitate toward pieces that feel relaxed, escapist, and handmade," she said. The appeal is that these natural pieces add unique texture and visual interest to any summer fit.

Stolch also offered styling advice for coastal accessories. She explained that these pieces pair beautifully with simple linen separates, giving the look a very Côte d'Azur vibe thanks to the introduction of seaside charms. These beachy extras also look fabulous with slip dresses and monochromatic ensembles. Since the natural pieces tend to bring warm colors to a look — think of the woven, neutral goodness of a raffia bag — they lift and elevate without looking like you've tried too hard. These organic aesthetics, with their nautical nods, offer effortless elegance.

Statement belts and scarf styling lift an outfit

Two of the most low-effort accessories with the biggest payoff are statement belts and silk scarves. Best of all, particularly in regards to silk scarves, the options are nearly endless. Jordan Stolch exclusively tells Women.com the look is going to be everywhere. "Statement belts and silk scarves worn as belts, tops, head wraps, or bag accents, are set to take center stage in Summer 2026," she says. The reason these two basic accessories add so much is that they can change an outfit with very little effort by adding color and personality. Stolch recommends styling these two essentials with everything from denim shorts and t-shirt dresses as well as oversized shirting as a way to refresh those well-loved, perhaps over-familiar pieces in your wardrobe.

Silk scarves are especially fun, and TikTok is ripe with ideas on how to utilize them for summer 2026. TikTok fashion personality @storyofsamm offered three different vibes all made from a single silk scarf. The first was styling the scarf over the hair and tying it behind the neck to give cottage core vibes. The second was tying the scarf under the chin for Parisian vibes. The final option was wearing the scarf over the head but wrapping it around the throat once for Audrey Hepburn aura. All of that came from one, little scarf.

Statement brooches reign supreme

The brooch revival has been mounting for a few years now and is gaining even more momentum because brooches bring endless possibility to a wardrobe. While these pinned accessories tend to dominate winter wardrobes, appearing on woolen coats as an extra styling piece, the look is making a comeback in a fun, warm-weather way. The trend is known as "extroverted brooches," and it's exactly what it sounds like. These statement pins bring mega impact with very little effort required.

According to Pinterest Predicts, brooches are one of the biggest styling accessories of 2026, channelling that granny core aesthetic that adds whimsy and charm to even the simplest summer fit. What's so fun is that people are wearing brooches in unexpected ways; pin them to the hem of your pants or on your Peter Pan collar. If a shirt is oversized and you want it snatched around your waist, gather the excess fabric and secure it with a brooch. 3D flower brooches, a throwback from the early aughts, is another delightful way to bring summer vibes to any top and fulfills that desire for dopamine dressing.

Oversized jewelry is kicking minimalism to the curb

Minimalist jewelry is getting shelved this summer in favor of bigger, brighter, bolder pieces. Jordan Stolch walked Women.com through this new trend. "Bold cuffs, chunky resin bangles, sculptural earrings, and layered necklaces are continuing the shift away from ultra-delicate jewelry toward more expressive, maximalist styling," she says. And it's the best season to showcase these big pieces. "Summer is the ideal season for oversized jewelry because lighter fabrics and bare skin naturally allow accessories to stand out, especially when paired with simple silhouettes, beach-fashion or swimwear," Stolch added.

Bold, wearable architecture is the name of the game along with mismatched earrings and asymmetrical sets. Spring 2026 runway shows predicted the rise of standout jewelry. Schiaparelli, Givenchy, and Balmain all stood out with offerings of bigger, bolder jewelry. Quiet luxury could never.

Personalized and charm-heavy accessories offer a unique touch

Unique, one-of-a-kind touches can make even the most simple outfit stand out. "Customization remains a prominent theme in the current fashion zeitgeist, especially through the use of charm necklaces, embellished bags, decorative bag chains, and personalized details that make accessories feel unique to the wearer," Jordan Stolch tells Women.com exclusively. As such, personalized accessories are slated to be a prominent part of summer 2026. This trend comes as people move away from mass-produced products and gravitate towards sentimental pieces that speak to their unique taste.

Stolch says that the popularity around personalized accessories speaks to a growing desire for individuality. Women want to adorn themselves in pieces that are carefully curated and collected. Best of all, these charm necklaces and embellished bag chains layer nicely with other pieces, too. More is more because it only adds to the whimsy. One of the most compelling things about this trend is that it can become a craft project in and of itself. On TikTok, @neeslondon_ pointed out that customizable accessories, particularly bag charms, are DIY-friendly. So this summer 2026 trend is great for those who love a hands-on approach to bedazzlement.
