Aubrey Plaza's Best Outfits Had Heads Turning

Best known for her dry delivery and witty humor, few celebrities command the level of attention that "People We Meet on Vacation" star, Aubrey Plaza has managed to cultivate over her 20 year career. Alongside building an acting portfolio of dreams, Plaza has carved out a fashion identity that mirrors her bold on-screen persona with vibrant, unconventional outfits that are impossible to not take note of.

Whether the actress is stepping onto the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards'blue – not red- carpet in a black double-breasted suit by Saint Laurent, or embracing high fashion drama with a floor length gowns for the photo roll call at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024, Plaza consistently delivers outfits that have our heads turning.

Much like her acting style, what makes her style so head turning is it's refusal to be boxed in. For Plaza, fashion seems to be an extension of her boundary pushing approach to creative expression and  and area that allows for a master blend of elegance with edge in a way that feels effortless yet intentional, proving that personal style doesn't have to follow the rules to make an impact.

Dramatic high-slit dress

A show of thigh was the order of day for Aubrey Plaza's outfit choice at the "White Lotus" season two premiere. The Stella McCartney gown featured an edgy cut-out on the bodice alongside a daring high-leg slit. The bold-colored fabric contrasted beautifully with the blue carpet and backdrop, creating a look that was both elegant and sensual. It was a dramatic outfit choice for an equally dramatic series and an example of Plaza's willingness to take risks, which ultimately further cements her status as one of the most intriguing dressers in Hollywood.

Black lace meets the paperboy hat

Is a red carpet for a sci-fi drama the best place to work out a look that screams gothic glamour? According to Plaza, the answer is yes. At the New York City premiere of her film "Megalopolis," the actress stunned in an out of the black lace ensemble from Dolce and Gabanna. The comedian finished with a paperboy cap and dramatic lace veil which aptly matched the structured tailoring and theatrical styling. Slightly vintage, slightly rebellious, and a big break from the typical use of lace for a dose of irreverent cool that Plaza outfits are crafted from.

Street-style sensation

Plaza's refusal to be boxed into one style genre is more than evident in this daytime street-style shot of her wearing what appears to be a Chanel-knitted shift dress. The '90s-esque structure of the head-turning outfit made the photo of the "Agatha All Along" star feels almost vintage, while the bold blue hue of the dress kept it fresh and modern. It's another example of Plaza's choice to opt for understated styling — minimal accessories, natural glam — and the desire to let the designer's craftsmanship take center stage, all in keeping with her signature cool.

Avant-Garde on the red carpet

For her first red carpet after the tragic passing of her husband Jeff Banea atthe 2025 Cannes Film Festival, Plaza donned a cream-colored gown that featured colorful bead embellishments across its sheer lengths. To top off her stylish outfit, the comedian accessorized with a large silver earring and simple silver rings. The Hollywood glam of this high fashion dress, was a demonstration of a softer side to Plaza's style, glamorous while still maintaining her unmistakable quirkyness, proving she can deliver traditional looks just as well as trendsetting.

Off-duty style icon

No one does fun off-duty style quite like Plaza and this understated black wool coat and equally dark tonal outfit is proof. Her green Mulberry bag added depth to the monochromatic ensemble as Plaza walked the streets of New York at night. Meanwhile, the long, structured coat provided a clean, minimalist silhouette, that ultimately allowed the vibrant, fern-colored bag to do all the talking. It was a demonstration of balance; classic and subdued at first glance, but with just enough color to feel fresh, a little like Plaza herself.

Lady in red

While she often gravitates toward neutrals, for a red carpet appearance at the 2023 TIME 100 Gala, "White Lotus" star Aubrey Plaza opted for a bold crimson. The short, silk cape-style Carolina Herrera Fall 2023 dress, appears to sit in the same hue family as the Time branding and by keeping the silhouette and accessory styling clean, she allowed the color to take center stage. Proving yet again that when it comes to head turning outfits, you'll never be able to predict Plaza's next move.

Fashion meets meme

Plaza donned a butter-yellow Loewe gown to the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2024 and despite the dress' equal parts modern and artistic feel, it was met with mixed reviews. Rather than appreciation for the clean lines and sculptural silhouette of the head turning outfit, Page Six reported that fans likened the dress to a post-it note. This, however, is yet another example of Plaza's choice to opt for outfits that command attention just like her comedy.

Maternity chic

For her first red carpet appearance following pregnancy speculation, Plaza opted for a outfit that championed comfort with her signature edge. The flowing white and blue floral dress with an A-line silhouette offered a subtle shift from her typically structured style while showing that rather than leaning into obvious maternity fashion, Plaza knows how to keep things effortless and cool. Even during the comedian's new life change, her fashion instincts remain as sharp as ever.
