Melania Trump's Go-To Nails Are As Boring As Her Fashion Sense
A lack of imagination seems to be the defining trait of Melania Trump's recent style. This wasn't always the case. The first lady has long had a tradition of taking fashion risks, wearing interesting things, and showcasing a bold flare. But in Donald Trump's second term as president, Melania has hit the snooze button on her looks one too many times. Her outfits are mostly black, white, or gray with no risk and no imagination. But there has been proof of a dull sense of style even before Trump's second presidential term. One key piece of evidence is Melania's unchanging go-to manicure. Melania's consistent nail look is a milky French manicure on long, oval nails, and she's stuck with this for years now.
In fact, this has been Melania's preferred manicure since 2011. Prior to these milky French manicures, Melania tended to wear her nails natural with nothing more than a clear coat of polish. It's not uncommon for people to find something that works and stick with it. After all, the late Queen Elizabeth II famously wore Essie's Ballet Slippers, a soft pink nail polish, for over 30 years, making it one of the most consistent nail colors worn by the royal family. But if even Kate Middleton has been spotted rocking a hot red manicure on occasion — and we know how strict the royals are about styling protocols – surely Melania can switch up her nail look once in a while.
Melania's recent style needs a jolt of energy... and her repetitive manicure proves this
Melania Trump's drab wardrobe matches her unimaginative manicure. Melania's fashion has drained of energy ever since Donald Trump took office for the second time on January 20, 2025. As opposed to her first stint in the White House, Melania has steered clear of anything too colorful, opting instead for neutrals that are so uninteresting.
Those who previously enjoyed Melania's fashion have been left wanting more and so many of Melania's outfits have us yawning, and it's disappointing because we know she can do better. She wore a bland, gray skirt suit by Prada in May 2025. She wore another snooze fest of a Dior gray skirt suit for Trump's address to Congress on March 4, 2025. She might as well have just re-worn the first skirt suit and set an example of eco-conscious dressing because they looked almost identical. When she arrived at the premiere for her documentary "Melania" in January 2026, she wore an all-black skirt suit. It was baffling because much of the documentary highlighted her unique sense of fashion, and yet she exhibited none of this at the premiere. Melania's style reputation took another hit with her lazy look at the 2026 White House Easter Egg Roll. Clearly, there's something going on during this second term; Melania seems to want to send a message that the focus is on her work rather than her wardrobe, but it takes a lot of the fun out of things.
