What Savannah Guthrie Has Said About Rampant Botox Rumors
While Savannah Guthrie refers to herself as a good candidate for Botox, it doesn't mean she has been one to frequent the injections. As a public figure, the "Today" show host has had plastic surgery rumors hurled in her direction far too many times, and though she has had a head-turning face transformation over the years, has never admitted to going under the knife. She has undergone non-invasive cosmetic procedures, however, specifically Botox, and even doing so on live television.
In 2015, the TV host received a series of Botox injections beside her co-host, Carson Daly, right on air. While viewers watched the two getting prepped and poked, dermatologist and psychiatrist Dr. Amy Wechsler, who administered treatment, noted the results would kick in around one to two weeks later, however, would fade after three to four months.
On the "Today" episode, Guthrie was asked if it was her first time undergoing Botox treatment, and she admitted it wasn't. "I did Botox once, like seven years ago," she said. "I didn't like it at all. I felt like it just made my eyebrow stick up. I have wrinkles, but I don't really care. I feel my wrinkles look better than Botox." Nonetheless, she thought it would be "fun" to try it again. In fact, the year prior, Guthrie told her "Today" co-hosts she had the procedure done in 2009 and expressed a willingness to do more treatments in the future. "[I got Botox] in my forehead, that's where everyone did it," she had said at the time, via E! News. "I have never done it again. I'm not saying I wouldn't, though. I would...I'm definitely a candidate for Botox. Because of wrinkles on your forehead, they're supposed to smooth them out."
Guthrie has explored other non-invasive cosmetic treatments
Savannah Guthrie, and her co-host accomplice, Jenna Bush Hager, were once again guinea pigs for part of the "Today" show's "Does it Work?" segment. The two underwent CoolSculpting – a non-invasive fat reduction (fat-freezing) treatment – on the air. Guthrie had three CoolSculpting applications on her arms, and though NBC News had her results examined by two separate plastic surgeons who found a "significant" reduction in fat in the areas treated, she didn't seem entirely convinced. "Supposedly, the doctors say that it works," Guthrie said during the episode. "I don't know. I think to be clear about it, it's really just a spot treatment. We just thought it would be fun to try it."
Guthrie, who has experienced a major life transformation, doesn't mind looking her age and has embraced what little wrinkles have appeared on her face. She doesn't seem particularly keen on subjecting herself to cosmetic treatments. She would rather tweak her photos before sharing them online than actually change her appearance in real life. "I'm like anyone — when I see a picture where my wrinkles are apparent, I don't love looking at that, and I'll try to put the good Instagram filter on there to make it look better. But I'm not going to not put the picture up. I'm 46 years old, and I don't mind looking 46 years old," she said in a 2018 "Today" feature. "Sometimes people say, 'I can see your wrinkles.' Well, that's true. I do have some wrinkles. I call them smile lines. They're from smiles and laughing, and those are the best kind of wrinkles."
