Melania Trump's Style Reputation Takes Another Hit With Lazy Look At 2026 White House Easter Egg Roll

Melania Trump's style reputation took another hit this past weekend when she appeared at the 2026 White House Easter Egg Roll. The first lady stepped out alongside her husband Donald Trump in a nautical-inspired look, including a Ralph Lauren navy blazer over a white top. She paired the pieces with off-white, wide-leg pants from Dolce & Gabbana and white flats from Roger Vivier. Melania even matched Donald, who also wore a navy jacket (though he opted for matching suit pants). 

Unlike when Melania dressed inappropriately for Tiffany Trump's wedding, this outfit was technically appropriate for the occasion. However, it felt underwhelming for such a notorious fashionista. Her neutral top and pants were uninspired and bordered boring, while her longline blazer gave us corporate vibes instead of a fun day of Easter activities aesthetic. The mix of white shades also appeared confusing and clashed. This was especially evident in the professional photos taken at the event.

Multiple social media users agreed the lazy look could easily have been upgraded with a little creativity. One X user suggested she should have swapped the white blouse for a pale yellow top. Butter yellow upgraded countless spring/summer 2025 outfits and a little more color would have gone a long way in this mundane 'fit. Another quipped of her poorly tailored pants that needed more attentive hemming. "Soon to be white grass stained pants," they wrote.

Some of Melania Trump's previous blazer outfits confirm she knows how to style the outwear in a more fashion-forward way. Last year, during the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the first lady adopted the 'sandwich method' of styling while walking alongside Donald Trump. She wore a matching white blazer and dress pants, which were separated by a tucked in, form-fitting, camel, button down shirt. We've also seen Melania get it right with a blazer and skirt combo. In 2017, she showed us how to style a monochrome outfit even on a lazy day in her red blazer, skirt, and heels look while out in France.

Despite Melania's outfit missing the mark, she clearly stood by her lackluster 2026 Easter Egg Roll look. The former model posted a video featuring clips from the day across her Instagram accounts (including her personal and FLOTUS pages). The upload showed her and husband Donald enjoying the day, including waving to attendees from the White House.

Melania's divisive ensemble came just two months after her stylist and designer Hervé Pierre admitted not all of FLOTUS' ensembles have a deep meaning. "If the look is appropriate for the occasion and looks great, my job is done," he told Hello!. Though it appears his job wasn't quite done this Easter.
