Jenna Bush Hager's Reason For Avoiding Ozempic Is So Refreshing (Listen Up, Hollywood!)
Jenna Bush Hager refreshingly admitted that she likes food too much to be on a GLP-1. During an episode of "Today with Jenna & Friends" in September 2025, Bush Hager chatted with actor Rosie Perez about the seemingly ubiquitous reality of Ozempic and other GLP-1s used for weight loss. Perez said, "Everyone's on the needle!" but admitted that she's too scared to take Ozempic. As for Bush Hager, it isn't fear holding her back, but rather her enjoyment of food and a good appetite. "[Food] is so good!" Bush Hager admitted, per People. "I mean I haven't done it because I want to eat, you know? Among other reasons." Bush Hager was remarking on the common phenomenon of reduced appetite that people experience while on a GLP-1; these medications suppress the appetite and signal satiety to the brain more quickly than someone not on a GLP-1 typically. In some cases, people report feeling nauseated while others report a notable loss of interest in food, hence the rapid weight loss that comes from these medications.
When Bush Hager and Perez joked about everyone being on Ozempic, they weren't wrong. The medication seems to have taken Hollywood by storm, and there are several celebrities who have completely transformed after taking Ozempic. But for some, the rapid transformation can be extreme, and there are celebs who have fallen victim to "Ozempic face," where features appear gaunt and hollow. So it makes sense that Bush Hager might have other reasons to be wary about GLP-1s.
Jenna Bush Hager doesn't take GLP-1s, but she has dealt with body image issues
With so many celebrities opening up about their bad experiences with Ozempic and other GLP-1s, it's understandable that Jenna Bush Hager may not want to try the medications. As the morning show host refreshingly opened up about her desires not to take these drugs, she's also refreshingly opened up about her own body image issues. It's not like Bush Hager is acting like she's above it all.
In February 2023, Bush Hager told People that when she was only nine, she wanted to lose weight. "I found a journal over Christmas break where in fourth grade my New Year's resolution was to lose 5 lbs.," she lamented. But after welcoming three children with her husband Henry Chase Hager, Bush Hager expressed how much her relationship with her own body changed. Speaking about negative body image, Bush Hager added, "I no longer think that way and I haven't for quite some time." She went on, "I think having children, and your body changing in that way, is such a good reset where you realize, 'Wow, I've been doing this incredible thing, and my body is so much more than a vessel to be made fun of, to be worrying about.'" That's a laudable new attitude to have.
