Rebel Wilson's 'Ozempic Face' Transformation Is Wild To See In Side-By-Side Photos
In 2024, Rebel Wilson openly admitted to trying Ozempic, a GLP-1 that regulates blood sugar and signals a sense of fullness to the brain. The increasingly popular hormone, traditionally used to treat Type 2 diabetes, has risen in popularity thanks to the side effect of significant weight loss. "Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good," Wilson told The Sunday Times in March 2024. While GLP-1s can successfully help people lose weight, such rapid weight loss over such a short span of time leads to a gauntness in the face, colloquially referred to as "Ozempic face."
While Wilson added that she no longer uses Ozempic, its visible effects are evident. In side-by-side photos, the actor appears much more gaunt. Common attributes of Ozempic face, which are evident on Wilson, include sunken eyes, hollow cheeks, and more lines and wrinkles around the mouth and jawline. This is because the sudden loss of subcutaneous fat that plumps up a person's face vanishes with speedy weight loss, and the skin doesn't have time to adjust. More natural forms of weight loss happen over longer periods of time, giving the skin more time to react. But for Wilson, and others who've used GLP-1s for weight loss, the change is much more jarring and can actually make a person look older and more tired than they are. In fact, several celebs totally transformed after taking Ozempic or other GLP-1s.
Rebel Wilson didn't only rely on GLP-1s for her weight loss journey
While Rebel Wilson used Ozempic for weight loss maintenance, the "Pitch Perfect" star began her health journey without it. Back in January 2020, Wilson shared on Instagram that she would be embarking on what she called "The Year of Health." She planned to stay active and cut out sugar and junk food, and Wilson stuck to her commitment. Since 2020, she has lost over 80 pounds, and while much of this came from physical exercise and healthier eating, Ozempic did play a part. In September 2025, Wilson shared with USA Today that she "microdosed" Ozempic to help her stay on track.
The resulting signs of Ozempic face are common in Hollywood, and Wilson certainly isn't the only star to use GLP-1s to achieve a weight loss goal. Many celebrities who have fallen victim to Ozempic face show a more gaunt, hollow appearance after the rapid weight loss. Kathy Bates' Ozempic face transformation is one specific example, and the same goes for Oprah's face transformation after Ozempic. So Wilson certainly isn't alone. But for the actor, her transformation had the possibility of impacting her career. "People thought I'd lose my pigeonhole in my career, playing the fat funny character, and they wanted me to continue in that," Wilson told People. Thankfully, that hasn't been the case for Wilson, despite such a transformation.
