Katy Perry Can't Shake The 'Ozempic Face' Accusations

Katy Perry is looking wildly different these days. The singer started to show signs of weight loss around 2024, and fans were surprised by how much leaner Perry looked. When she showed up at the 2024 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in December 2024, wearing a sheer red dress with a red bandeau, Perry flaunted her abs and toned arms. But fans had their own ideas. "Maybe [Perry's] born with it. Maybe it's Ozempic," one person commented on Reddit.

More people then started making connections between Perry and the dreaded "Ozempic face," a colloquial term for the gaunt face that many people get after taking Ozempic, or another GLP-1. The non-medical expression captures the sagging skin, premature aging, sunken eyes, and hollow cheeks that Ozempic users often get due to rapid weight loss. Lips can also appear thinner and the bone structure of the face is more prominent. This effect is different from a more natural approach to weight loss, where the fat reduction happens over a gradual span of time and the skin can adapt accordingly. However, Ozempic and other GLP-1s work so quickly that they can sometimes give people the look of a deflated balloon as opposed to a leaner face. The rapid loss of subcutaneous fat is keenly felt, as this fat gives volume and lift, making a face appear more youthful. In light of this, Perry's gaunt look had people guessing that she's had a little extra help from a GLP-1.

Katy Perry denies taking Ozempic, but fans say otherwise

Katy Perry looked completely different from her former self when she attended the Balenciaga show in Paris in July 2025. To be fair, she and long-time partner Orlando Bloom had split only a few weeks before the show, so her less vibrant appearance could also be due to the shock and grief from the separation. Nonetheless, Perry's eyes were much more sunken, her cheeks were hollow, and she had lost that vitality that she had only a few years before. She looked like a walking example of "Ozempic face," and fans called it out. "It's Ozempic face. I'm not making a joke. It ages people instantly. She looks unwell," someone wrote on Reddit, under the heading, "Does Katy Perry's face look off to you?"

Unfortunately, Perry's in good company. There's a long list of celebrities who have transformed after taking Ozempic or other GLP-1's. To get more specific, Amy Schumer has an undeniable case of Ozempic face, and there are many other celebrities who look completely different because of Ozempic face. Despite the obvious features, Perry has not confirmed any kind of GLP-1 use. Instead, she credits her weight loss to a strict diet and exercise regime. After the birth of her daughter Daisy in 2020, whom she shares with Bloom, Perry and Bloom embarked on a fitness journey together. An insider told Life & Style that Bloom acted as Perry's coach. Together, they worked out frequently and ate a healthy diet. So as far as Perry's concerned, she hasn't benefited from Ozempic.
