Sabrina Carpenter Can't Escape Relationship Rumors
As Sabrina Carpenter's songs have provided some poignant dating advice, it's no wonder that the pop star's music has bred speculation about her love life. Fans were quick to decode lyrics about the suspected love triangle between Carpenter, Camila Cabello, and their shared ex, Shawn Mendes, when "Short 'n' Sweet" debuted in August 2024. Meanwhile, the 2025 release of "Man's Best Friend" had the internet talking about her former romance with Barry Keoghan, which resulted in one of the most dramatic celebrity breakups of 2024.
Even so, Carpenter's music isn't the only thing that has kept tongues wagging. She's been linked to comedian Marcello Hernández, with internet users pointing out onscreen chemistry between the two during the singer's appearances on "Saturday Night Live." Hernández went viral as the star of an "SNL" skit back in October 2024, appearing as the Latin heartthrob Domingo, whose love affair with a bride was comedically revealed via a bridesmaid performance of "Espresso."
The "American Boy" headliner was faux-arrested by Carpenter at one of the LA stops of her "Short 'n' Sweet" tour, appearing in-character as Domingo to participate in the long-running concert bit. The two then shared the screen for subsequent Domingo skits, with the singer appearing as a childhood friend of the bride named Sophie, before they teamed up to promote Carpenter's October 2025 hosting gig in an "SNL" video. Despite comment sections across the web rooting for the romance, Hernández put the rumors to rest during a January 2026 podcast appearance.
Sabrina has been linked to several notable names
While Sabrina Carpenter has been concretely tied to some notable celebrities, Marcello Hernández is seemingly not one of them. The comedian praised the "Please Please Please" singer's "Saturday Night Live" work when appearing on "Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard" – but pointed to his committed relationship to dispel any romance rumors. "I'm in a relationship with a Dominican girl," he said. "She's an architect. An artist. She's unreal. She went to Yale."
Even though a romance between Carpenter and Hernández is off the table, fans have found no shortage of other celebs to pair the pop icon with. Actor and musician Joe Keery has been the subject of speculation since he was happily faux-arrested during Carpenter's performance at Austin City Limits. "I was wondering if you — you seem very eager, actually," the former Disney star said during the interaction. "This is so rare!"
Additionally, though lyrics from the track "Go Go Juice" seem to cheekily reference past flames, a name drop in the song "When Did You Get Hot?" has fans speculating about who the suddenly-transformed "Devin" could be. Some have connected the lyrics to Phoenix Suns basketball player Devin Brooks, who's previously dated Kendall Jenner, but the singer doesn't seem to have any concrete link to him. Whoever the singer picks as her next beau, here's to hoping he'll opt-out of the red flags put on blast in Carpenter's "Manchild."
